Caffeine can disrupt sleep = non-restful sleep or insomnia = harms the body. The body is the temple of God for Christians.
So, it is best for Christians who are not addicted or dependent on caffeine in coffee/tea/chocolate to avoid such intoxicating stuffs. Addiction occurs after long term daily use of the intoxicating stuffs, ie it takes about 1 month or more for the brain to be permanently altered or damaged. Hence, doctors do not prescribe sleeping pills or steroid-based anti-inflammation medicine for more than 2 weeks. Such "medicine" are meant for temporary use only. Unfortunately, caffeine, nicotine and alcohol do not need doctor's prescription = prevalent addiction to these intoxicating stuffs by the masses, especially by Gentiles influenced by Western pop culture.
I suppose it is because we are all different, but coffee doesn't keep me awake at night. I can drink it right up to bed time, and then sleep sound all night. That is why I was saying the only thing that gives me any boost in energy is something like a Stacker energy shot, which will give me a boost for several hours, but doesn't effect my sleep if I use it during the day. I rarely will use them. Hot tea helps give me a bit of energy, but only for about an hour at most. I drank coffee last night within a few minutes of going to bed and slept right on through very sound. It is not effecting my health in that way, and there are many benefits to coffee. At most, it is a wash. If it was really wrong under the law of Moses for health reasons, it would be wrong for gentiles, but it was never mentioned in the law of Moses and the foods that were mentioned were about laws of separation, not laws of good health.
