My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me... For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. — Psalms 22:1, 16-18
Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. — Psalm 2:6-12
Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me. As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me. — Psalm 18:43-44
When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory. He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer. This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord. For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the Lord behold the earth; To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death — Psalm 102:16-20
Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, thou knowest. I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation. — Psalm 40:7-10
The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth. The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. — Psalm 110:1-4
I could go on. There are many more. Once you catch on to seeing comments about Jesus, you’ll start to see them everywhere.

This shows that Psalms is a lot more than a book of man made poems or songs. Through scriptures like these, you see the divine inspiration. Psalms is full of gems.

The church has a bad habit of teaching this idea that the OT was for the Jews and the NT was for everyone else. This causes people to study the OT as nothing more than historical Jewish philosophy. The OT was really written to prepare the way for Jesus. It’s bursting with information about Him. The Sermon on the Mount wasn’t some brand new attempt to re-invent the wheel; it revealed what the OT was really all about. It was a correction of bad Pharisee traditions which had clouded the people’s understanding of God.

the whole bible points to Jesus/God in one way or another. every single word. even when it dont seem like it does.
like say the book of esther.
read it like this. Haman... the flesh (nothing good in the flesh, recreated human spirit in Christ.)
Mordecai... Holy Spirit
King... the soul
replace the words with the corresponding words. this aint no bible code.

the problem with the OT isnt the OT. the problem was the Jews. the jews got all nationalistic and inclusive thinking they were Gods chosen and everyone else was fit for hell no hope bye bye. they didnt want to take Gods message to the world. Just read Jonah. God told Jonah to go to Nineveh. Jonah was so mad he wanted to die when they repented and God spared them. but God did send Him... even to a great city who picked on and harassed Israel every chance they got and even made war with them. And even when Jesus came and told them His message was to the whole world... they didnt want to get on board then either. now a days they want to be a light to the world but dont realize jesus will be coming in the clouds... the real messiah.
there are really just a few believers here and there who actually know truth in scripture... who have pursued God for it. just like back in the OT days... a few knew the truth. everyone else went with whats trending, sounds good, tickles your ear, makes you feel good, etc. nothing new under the sun.
and no... i do not think i have arrived on the shores of knowing everything or whatever.

Ed Zachary . When paul said ye have known the HOLY SCRIPTURES which are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith in Christ . HE wasn't at that moment talking about his letters , HE WAS TALKING ABOUT THE WHOLE TORAH . Folks think that stuff can be omitted , as though , JESUS Is the minister of transgression and lawlessness. Lets see what part of the law JESUS made void . Ye have heard it said that whoever Puts away his wife and marries another commits adultery . but I say , IF YOU EVEN LOOK upon a woman with lust , YE commit adultery . THAT DONT SOUND like he was omitting the law , RATHER magnifying it , right on the heart . Anything that pertains to the RIGHTEOUSNESS of law , IF we have the SPIRIT would be fulfilled in us , and that by Love . but todays love seems to transgress and make void the law , BUT GRACE DOES NO SUCH THING . IT PUTS IT IN OUR MINDS and on our hearts , BY THE SPIRIT we simpy fulfill by love . The righteousness of the law , grace does not make void . Anything that pertained to correction , aka if one sins etc bring a bird or whatever , aLL THAT IS WHAT IS NO LONGER NECESSARY . and meats , drinks and days , THOSE are just willfull acts of worship . But all else in that law , LOVE WOULD FULLFILL, IF it be the LOVE that comes fROM GOD . as in , LOVE GOD ABOVE ALL , CHRIST ABOVE ALL and your neighbor as yourself . It even says in the law , if your see your ENEMIES ass or cow fallen in a pit or out wandering to return it to even your enemy , and NIEGHBOR or stranger . JUST as JESUS said , DO UNTO OTHERS as you would have them to do unto you , FULLFILLS the law . Now , how bout this last reminder . What did JOHN say about hating your brother . HE said that man has no eternal life in Him . He is a murderer . just as JESUS had said , He who hates his brother Is a murderer . SO , let me say this , Arent we greatful GOD corrects us , LOVES us and don't leave us in error . But rather corrects us . SO then lets hear something , and this will also sum up DO UNTO OTHERS as ye would have them do to you . IF we turn a blind eye to evil , is that loving our neighbor as ourselves . NOPE . ITS HATE . and let me prove it . DO not hate your neighbor in your heart , In any way , any wise YOU SHALL REBUKE CORRECT HIM and not allow SIN upon HIM . SO WHOSE THE HATERS us who correct and do all to correct , for we desire none to perish , or those who hug their friends RIGHT TO HELL and wont correct squat . I am telling us all, satan has pulled one over on many churches . Many of his men teach a love that is hate and a hate they call love . all backwards .

To them the Tanach is as alive as it was in the early church when the disciples used it as a benchmark for their teaching. Remember: they ONLY had this book and a small collection of letters. The Tanach should be the benchmark for all Christians - else they miss understanding 'the rest of the story' as Paul Harvey would say. The Tanach will never be obsolete.

Not only did the apostles rely on the OT/Tanach for their Scripture, but even when you read the NT epistles you are reading the OT through Christian eyes. You can hardly sling a cat in the NT without hitting an OT reference.

Many teach that Jesus broke and destroyed the law and rebuked the religious leaders for strictly teaching the law. None of that is true. Jesus corrected false teaching about the law.

Even before you started the scavenger hunt thread, this time through the Bible I noticed how much the things taught in the New Testament were references to Old Testament scriptures. So much that Jesus taught were things right out of the Old Testament. Unlike the religious crowd, Jesus knew how to rightly interpret it.

The old testament itself talks about storing up old treasures as well as new in the storehouse, so actually old is not a derogatory term, nor does it mean obsolete...on the contrary it just means it was given or here before the newer. That's good, because I'm getting old, heh.

We kind of take it for granted sometimes, but just think how even the angels longed to look into the things we take for granted now, thanks to His light and understanding! We are one blessed people, my goodness, praise the Lord.

Wait that was almost three years back . Time is flying by , but my sister is not old . Now hands up dear sister and praise the LORD . And dec third is remembered . That's right sister . You are not forgotten and you are not unloved . HANDS UP and let us rejoice in the LORD .
