The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. Proverbs 9:10
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13,14

There is a lot of emphasis placed on having the fear of the Lord. It is the beginning of wisdom. It is the beginning of knowledge. The whole duty of man is to fear God and keep his commandments, but how many really fear God? If you really think about it, this is telling us that when we don't fear God, we are foolish and lack knowledge. When we neglect to keep God's commandments, we fail to do what the Bible says is our whole duty. Think about that for a moment. Our whole duty according to scripture is to do two things: fear God and keep his commandments, yet these are two things the modern church speaks against. We are told we should not be fearful of God and we are told that to keep commandments of God is legalism. Everything is so upside down in this world. Good is called evil. Black is called white. The truth is found in the pages of the Holy Bible.

To fear of the Lord is to depart from evil.
"...And by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil." - Proverbs 16:6
That is why I say that to fear God is a good thing.
And the only way to depart from evil is to love, and consequently, keep His commandments.
"If you love Me, keep My commandments." - John 14:15
"...If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word..." - John 14:23
"For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”" - Galatians 5:14
Conclusion, if you keep His commandments you have no fear because you are in His love.
"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love." - 1 John 4:18
"If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love..." - John 15:10
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit." - Romans 8:1
Blessings in Jesus' name!

Jer 5:22 Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?
Php 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Isa_66:5 Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.
Jas_2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
when you are in His presence, not like in worship or in church its terrifying. not like scary terror. but you do fear and tremble.
He is so awesome. beyond words or what the mind can fathom before you are in His presence like this.
Psa 66:3 Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.
Psa 47:2 For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.
I mean, lets just take a moment here and acknowledge that Jesus Christ died horribly, tortured, mocked, whipped, hung on nails piercing his hands and feet. all that to appease Gods wrath to us due to sin.
yeah, i aint buying that God is only love and mercy stuff.

Pro 3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. Pro 3:8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
Psa 33:16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. Psa 33:17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. Psa 33:18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; Psa 33:19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
Pro 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Pro 15:16 Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.
Exo 1:21 And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.
Deu 10:20 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name. Deu 10:21 He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.
Deu 13:4 Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
Psa 128:1 A Song of degrees. Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.
Mal 4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

The Bible says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, yet most of the Christian Church world today is busy telling everyone we shouldn't fear God. If fear of the Lord is wisdom, then to not fear the Lord is foolishness.

And why do you suppose and what do you suppose planted this teaching in the minds of men gone wrong . If we walk in Christ then our end is good and we have nothing to fear at our end . But if we walk willfully in sin , then at our end we gonna fear and weep massive . And what is the fear of the LORD , TO DEPART ,NOT to walk in , BUT TO DEPART from evil . Sounds like whoever planted this in the minds of men , Knows only Bondage . And cannot set the captives free . EXACTLY . Any guesses on WHO that is . I shall be as GOD , I shall exalt myself , I .....................................................

I love the books of Psalms & Proverbs.
Psalms is a heart open before the Lord. David's words invoke contemplation of ourselves and our relationship to God. It is no wonder that David was loved by him. Praise ,honour and glorying God are magnified in his words.
Proverbs, (Writer Solomon) speaks about our relationships to others and how our peers can influence us. Traps of the world are seen in these words. We see warnings against deceptions, darkness that appears as light, and even things about ourselves.
Let us ever look to God's word for ALL that comes against us in complete trust !

I have heard many rebuke the plain language of the " fear of the Lord" saying we are NOT to really be afraid of him but it just means reverence.
Jesus himself said for us NOT to fear him that could ONLY kill the body but to fear him that had the power to destroy all that we ever are body, soul & spirit
