Sit at My Right Hand Psa 110:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. Psa 110:2 The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. Psa 110:3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth. Psa 110:4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. Psa 110:5 The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath. Psa 110:6 He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries. Psa 110:7 He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.
Heb 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; Heb 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Heb 10:11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: Heb 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; Heb 10:13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Gen 14:18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. Luk 22:19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Luk 22:20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. only three people i am aware of in the bible are refered to as the son of God... Jesus, Adam, and Melchizedek. any others? Heb 5:5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. Heb 5:6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Heb 5:7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; Heb 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; Heb 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Heb 5:10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. Heb 7:2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
back in the day kind and prince were synonymous. who else would be a king to the King of Kings?
Heb 7:3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. Heb 5:6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
Heb 7:15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, Heb 7:16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
G3665 ὁμοιότης homoiotēs hom-oy-ot'ace From G3664; resemblance: - like as, similitude. Heb 7:16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
I can't think of other examples where a name is mentioned in reference to the Son of God, but there is the one instance where the Son of God appears in Daniel. He was in the fiery furnace with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Daniel 3:25
He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
We know that Jesus is eternal. He has always been, but was not revealed to us as Jesus Christ till he was born to Mary.

So for myself, I am not strong either way on this issue. I lean towards it being the Son of God, but not known as Jesus, but cannot be 100 percent sure. The Jimmy Swaggart explanation seems very weak.

Melchizedek is the "Word of God" ...."translated" into flesh. Not yet born of woman when he appeared to Abraham.
Salem is "his kingdom"...."The City of Peace", where Abraham was spiritually dwelling by obeying the Word of God.
Mechizedek was not King of a physical city, but a spiritual city for the God fearing to seek refuge in......the same City of which we are now called to dwell in - The kingdom of God/Holy Jerusalem. He was Abraham's King, and he is also our King if we follow in his commandments.
Melchizedek had no mother or father (of man) on this earth when he appeared to Abraham. He had no genealogy. You cannot trace him back then (to man), because he came straight from heaven, and "translated" as "flesh", to appear to Abraham then returned to heaven after doing this.
Yes he is Jesus, but not known as Jesus then, but the same Word of God, not born yet, but translated into flesh so that Abraham could meet the Word of God face to face, his King.
That he was Jesus but not known as Jesus is how it appears to me too.

oh thats good... i forgot about Daniel.
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
every time we see this "Son of God" its in the likeness or image of God. And we also know that God is the only One who is self existent, without beginning or end... not created or made, and has always been. every other form of life has a beginning, was made, and/or has a mother or a father, and has an end of life.
Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
when we read in galatians 4: Gal 4:3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: Gal 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, Gal 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
the word in the greek for adoption there... strongs is not sufficient... but when we study this it has implications of being used as a "legal term" it grants full sonship...and here is the important part... by law. and then we get into being co-heirs and having part in the inheritance, and all is shared with us. eventually. I think this is key to understanding that there is no other that it could be. now i gave it thought and there is only one other place where i can think of that says sons of God... Genesis 6 where its speaking of fallen angels making offspring with women. for any who wish to double check begin reading in verse 1 and you dont have to read far at all. but we can see in the scripture you provided in daniel 3 and compare that to genesis 6, there is one major difference... the letter S in son/Son being or not being lowercase or not.
i dug for some pearls... behold:
Psa 76:1 To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm or Song of Asaph. In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel. Psa 76:2 In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.
Gen 33:18 And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padanaram; and pitched his tent before the city.
when we look that word up only in just Strongs we find a corresponding name of this city... Shalem... or Shalim... its an early name for Jerusalem. it implies it is synonymous with Jerusalem.
i also did some more digging on the name Melchizedek. in Strongs it lists this name as King of the right... but it gets deeper. it also means King of Rightousness... and there is only one King of Righteousness... My King Is [the god] Sedek” or “My King Is Righteousness
there is something else to consider here also.. Abraham was the father of the levites basically... and Abraham gave a tithe to Melchizedek so Melchizedek is superior to Abraham... and the Melchizedek-like priesthood of Christ is superior to the levitical priesthood.
the more i dig on this the more it seems it only points to Jesus.

Very, very interesting Cletus, you may be right on the money. Something I will definitely consider, and who knows might even accept, because you gave a good chunk of information here, seems to clear some things.

Here is the old Melchizedek thread. Everyone can go back and see what we discussed the first time this came up.
