Mal 3:1-4 (1) Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. (2) But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: (3) And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness. (4) Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years.
This is a very interesting prophecy to me.
It almost sounds to me that this could be a type of double prophecy.
First it mentions, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me.
Now no doubt, this is referring to an individual, but could it refer to an individual, that shall prepare the way of the Lord during his first coming (when he came as a man to die on the cross), and also to an individual that shall prepare the way of the Lord, before the second coming takes place?
Well here is what it says of John the Baptists:
Mat 3:1-3 (1) In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, (2) And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (3) For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
There is no doubt that John was preparing people to meet the Christ, but what about the time of the tribulation period, will there be someone to prepare people for the second coming of Christ?
Mal 4:5-6 (5) Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: (6) And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
Luk 1:13-17 (13) But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. (14) And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. (15) For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. (16) And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. (17) And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
Now yes Malachi seems to have some reference to John the baptist, but does it also refer to the actual Elijah coming back as well?
Well usually when it mentions the great and dreadful day of the Lord, it is talking about the second coming.
And here is another scripture to consider:
Mat 17:11-12 (11) And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. (12) But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
So on one hand, it is referring in the past tense that Elijah has already come, which is in a figurative manner, and pointed to John the Baptist, but then in verse 11, it is talking about Elijah coming, in a future tense, and in verse 11 it is speaking of the real Elijah, which it is known that he is mentioned as being one of the 2 witnesses, that shall come during the time of the tribulation period.
So now let us get back to our scripture:
When shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the Lord, as in the days of old?
Well it obviously did not occur at his first coming, but at the second coming, Israel will be back a nation under God, which it is obviously pointing to the time of the second coming.
Now Jesus is the messenger of the covenant, and on the day of Pentecost, he came suddenly to his temple, that is he inhabited believers, which are the temple of the Holy Ghost, but how is it referring, Christ suddenly coming to his temple, during Christ's second coming?
We know that there will be a literal temple during the time of the millennial reign, but also during the time of the tribulation period.
And it seems to imply that there is already going to be a temple erected at his second coming, to which Christ shall suddenly come to this temple.
Will the tribulation temple, be the temple that Christ shall use during the millennial reign?
Just something I have been pondering on.

That is interesting, and may explain why John the Baptist denied being that Elijah, where it appears Jesus said he was, if they could receive it.

Good post Giller! You seem to have answered your own questions correctly.
When you say the tribulation temple, are you asking about the same temple that the FP will build for himself?
If so, that temple has nothing to do with Christ.

Well it does not say that the false prophet will build for himself a temple, it just says that the Antichrist will go into the temple of God, and cause the sacrifices to cease, and proclaim himself as God, in God's temple. 2Th 2:4 (4) Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Rev 13:6 (6) And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And the false prophet shall set up an image to the beast in this very temple.

Yes those verses do indicate that he is taking God's place in the hearts of men spiritually, but there will be a physical temple built for him also, because the Jews believe that their Messiah won't come unless that physical temple is built in Jerusalem first. Of course this will pave the way for the counterfeit Messiah to enter. He needs a throne and a physical temple to play the part perfectly.
Daniel 11:45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

There is only one Son of Perdition, not two.
The beast is the kingdom,
....the False Prophet is their leader, and the man with the miracles who claims he is God. He will be a secular leader and a spiritual one also, both rolled into one.
To be more specific, "antichrist" is not a single person but the spirit who denies Jesus is the Christ, and the Son of God. Many have this spirit.
God calls the Son of Perdition the "False Prophet". That is his correct title and that's his spiritual side. He is also called the "little horn" in Daniel. He has two horns like a lamb (rev 13:11) representing spiritual and secular leadership.

Rev 13:2 (2) And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. The Antichrist is his own man, but will have a kingdom. This beast points to a man, but which will be part of a kingdom, and have affiliation with different nations. Rev 13:18 (18) Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. It says the number of a man (singular), and not the number of man. So even though in the image of the beast, it does point to certain kingdom aspects, nevertheless the beast himself shall be a man, and this man shall have association in one form or another to the symbolisms that is described in the beast. Rev 13:11 (11) And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. This is a totally different beast and not the same as the first, for it is another beast, and this beast also shall be a man, that is part of some type of kingdom (I see him being part of Roman Catholicism in this case, through the 2 horns). This beast is the one that shall do miracles before the Antichrist. Rev 13:13-14 (13) And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, (14) And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. It refers the one who does miracles as an " he". Rev 19:20 (20) And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. It mentions 2 here.

I really find this scripture very interesting, and I mentioned at the beginning, a double association concerning this prophecy.
And on the second coming side of things, it mentions Christ coming to his temple suddenly, we know that there will be a tribulation temple, and a millennial temple, but will the tribulation temple end up being the millennial temple, just asking a question, share your thoughts.
Because what I find interesting is this:

It calls the tribulation temple, God's temple, God's temple, God's temple !!!!!!!
I know that there are a few groups who want to rebuild the temple, and I heard that there is one group who wants to rebuild the temple with the Ezekiel dimensions.

Thanks for sharing this Cletus, and I know that many say that the mosque on what is called the temple mount has to be destroyed in order for the temple to be rebuilt, but some people who did some investigation into this matter, through following what the bible says, have discovered that were the dome of the rock is, is not actually were the ancient Jewish temple stood. And we have to remember that Jesus says in the bible that not one stone would be left on another, yet were the temple mount site is, as it is called, there is the western wall or wailing wall that still stands, but Jesus said not one stone would be left on another. And through investigation, they have found out that the western wall was really part of a Roman fort called fort Antonia, and these same people have found another different site, to were every stone has not been left upon another, no evidence of any wall standing but just total destruction, and they found this site in the old city of Jerusalem, and it has a threshing floor, which in the bible it mentions David purchasing this place with a threshing floor, which is were the biblical temple was actually built, and it shows nearby water canals, which is were they would have done some of the water cleansing ceremonies God would of have them do.
