I was thinking about some things a person can do to prepare their hearts. Confession of all known sins seems like a good place to start, and asking the Lord to reveal things we are doing He doesn't approve of. Reading and meditating on scripture to renew our mind is important. Taking time to praise and worship is important. Giving God thanks for His many blessings. All those things can be helpful before getting into intercessory prayer. One other often neglected thing, fasting. Few Christians even fast for a full day anymore.
Who is the good shepherd ? Jesus. Whose voice do the sheep of Jesus KNOW and FOLLOW ? Jesus's Voice. Why ? Because He Says So. We won't follow another voice. (we may hear many voices ; spirit, mind, soul, flesh, demons, angels, doctrines.....) What does a sheep who is Jesus' sheep have to do to hear the shepherd ? Nothing. Just Hear, and obey/ follow. Jesus' Voice, Plan, Path, Discipline, Scourging, Training, Instruction, Directions: Always in perfect harmony with all Scripture. TO THE LORD BE ALL GLORY . Those who are HIS , hear not only HIS VOICE , BUT ONLY HIS VOICE , and they will NOT follow the voice of a stranger they will not feed on anything that is not his green grass pure truth . The voice of the mix they will not heed . JESUS KNOWS HIS OWN . AND HIS OWN KNOW HIM . This is absolute truth . Now many can say this and THINK they follow HIM , yet in works deny Him , these are deceived , they are not hearing His voice . BUT REST ASSURED a true LAMB DOES and HE KNOWS the VOICE OF HIS MASTER CHRIST . And not one ounce of that voice will contradict one ounce of the holy pure scriptures . Their are many pilates , what is truth , BUT A LAMB KNOWS the VOICE OF TRUTH FOR HIS MASTER IS CHRIST and HIS VOICE is TRUTH for HE IS TRUTH .

People claim they are led of the Spirit, but the spirit leading them is giving them the okay to do things that are sinful or even leading them to commit sin. A person really led of God's Spirit is not being led to go contrary to God's Word.

I reject the idea that Christians mustn’t apply themselves to hear Jesus speaking in a clear, accurate way.
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. — 1 Corinthians 10:11-12
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. — Hebrews 2:1
Stories abound of well-meaning ignorant Christians who got swept up in deception that they actually thought was Jesus or the Holy Spirit. We can’t dismiss them all by saying they weren’t really saved in the first place. Scripture warns us too many times that we can fall away.
There’s nothing in Scripture that tells us “once you’re saved you’re in the club and you’ll always know His voice.” To the contrary, we are told to be on guard, be sober and vigilant, test the spirits, examine the doctrines, and think not highly of ourselves.

I agree....pretty sure that everything about following Jesus, including learning to hear and recognize His voice, is an organic, living and learning situation rather than a black and white one...it can even sometimes be a case of one step backwards, two steps forwards. It's like taking ground in a war....we have an enemy who fights. If we were all perfect from the get-go then there would be no need to teach the church, and the apostles wouldn't have needed to write all their epistles. True sheep can and unfortunately often are, led astray. This is why even where Jesus spoke about tares is an indication that no one is judged to be a tare or a wheat until the end....they don't all start out as tares, but can become that way if they buy the lies that the enemy sows....just as we are wheat through the truth of God's word/seed, if we remain so.

Even if an Ekklesia assembly is perfect, they still would be continuing to speak as Yahuweh says to speak, to give as Yahuweh says to give, to chastise and exhort and uplift and encourage and teach as Yahuweh says to in His Word and by His Spirit. i.e. the LIFE of an assembly would not STOP if/when they ARE PERFECT, but would CONTINUE in all their words and actions as DIRECTED BY YAHUWEH and His Word , living in union with Yahushua and Yahuweh DAILY, ALWAYS, ONGOING, CONTINUALLY ALIVE !

Agree.....though you are speaking hypothetically not realistically.....if there is life in even a hypothetically "perfect" assembly then wouldn't we assume there would be newer believers who are not even matured, much less perfect in the extreme sense of the word..? So then it wouldn't be an entirely perfect assembly due to the presence of some who are not perfect. I don't think we will really see perfection until the full measure of the Spirit springs up and rains down and we'll be like Jesus then, as perfect as He was on earth...at the time when all His true and faithful followers reach the full measure of the stature of Christ, miraculously. It will be as it was in the days of Noah....the coming of the Lord....the windows of heaven opened raining down and at the same time the fountains of the deep springing up....the waters from below and the waters from above met together and kissed each other, as it were. Oh ASK for rain in the time of the latter rain...let the bridegroom leave his chamber (coming down) and the bride come out of her closet (springing upward). Let the winds blow on the garden that is shut up/enclosed, a sealed fountain.....so that her fragrance can spread abroad. Wonderful Jesus.

Wonderful Jesus. <<added edit: ((Appropriately with What is Faith)) (close "recent posts" page) IN and by FAITH, "the substance of things hoped for, the assurance of ..... " .......CEB Faith is the reality of what we hope for, the proof of what we don’t see. CJB Trusting is being confident of what we hope for, convinced about things we do not see. >> I posted REALISTICALLY, in harmony with all Scripture and in harmony with Ekklesia experience , not hypothetically. As I posted in the past, it is sad that <anyone> here has met so few Ekklesia , and I don't know what direction <anyone> is going or Yahuweh is taking them, or what Yahuweh will orchestrate for <anyone> and everyone here. Be perfect (complete, doing all that is possible that is right, and being right, being mature) TODAY, and always, as Yahushua Says Clearly (though not in English) in His Word.

Does it not depend on how we mean perfect, brother...in scripture there are two senses of the word. One is maturity, yes.....but the other is perfection as Jesus was perfect, never making a mistake, understanding all things, only doing what He saw the Father doing, perfectly selfless....have we seen that kind of perfection on earth in the Ekklesia yet? I believe this is waiting for the (true) church at the end...it's what the "marriage" is all about....no longer only seeing/knowing in part like Moses only saw the back parts of the Lord....whereas in the end we will not be like Him until we see Him as He is, not through a glass darkly....perfect union....it says we will fully know Him even as we are fully known.

People don't accept it because they love sin too much.
The Ekklesia Yahuweh (God) calls 'perfect' is not related to nor dependent upon "how we mean perfect" nor the English definition.
They ('perfect' as Yahuweh's Word Means) , the Ekklesia, have been since the first century, and rejected by man.(same as Jesus is rejected by man)

Let us strive for perfection, but always knowing that there is always room for improvement,
Let us lay aside all self righteousness, let us allow God to conform us to his image.
And always knowing that we have yet not attained.
Just the fact that the bible tells us to grow in faith , and grace, tells us that we have not yet attained.

People can be using the same word in a conversation but not have the same understanding of what it means in scripture. Of course we hope to understand it as God meant it.

As you're alluding, Paul, an apostle who laboured more than them all, himself said he did not consider that he was yet perfect. And Job was declared perfect....yet still found there was room for improvement when he was tested.

The most important point is that His Word is ALWAYS TRUTH. What people think 'perfect' means is not what Yahuweh means, obviously, so we must admit the word "perfect" is not the best word for the translation.

People can be using the same word in a conversation but not have the same understanding of what it means in scripture. Of course we hope to understand it as God meant it. No, not what "I mean", except as Yahuweh and Yahushua means. Never accept what a man means UNLESS it is the same/ confirms exactly what Yahuweh means. We know in part, and here is a little to start knowing or understanding what the word means from His Word: www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/luk/6/40/t_conc_979040 (see all occurences of "perfect") καταρτίζω katartízō, kat-ar-tid'-zo; from G2596 and a derivative of G739; to complete thoroughly, i.e. repair (literally or figuratively) or adjust:—fit, frame, mend, (make) perfect(-ly join together), prepare, restore. It is a bit like a team, with all the players learning their positions and moves and plays. If a player learns each day what he is to learnd, he is "perfect"/ mature/ complete/ prepared...... Again, there may be no "exact" match to start with in someone's thinking to what Yahuweh means, but Yahuweh TEACHES US IN SPIRIT to KNOW what HE MEANS. Then we KNOW. Then our spirit can gradually 'show' or teach our mind to understand, as written in and throughout Scripture.

The most important point is that His Word is ALWAYS TRUTH. What people think 'perfect' means is not what Yahuweh means, obviously, so we must admit the word "perfect" is not the best word for the translation. Amen. Many stumble over that word in the English, frightened at the impossibility of being "perfect"...it's important to let the Holy Spirit teach us what the Lord means by it. Otherwise how can someone with fewer "talents" be as "perfect" as someone who was apportioned a greater measure? And how can we be "perfect" when we all have only received the earnest of the Spirit, not yet the fullness of what is guaranteed to come? How can we be "perfect" when we only are a part, and know in part, see in part, and some are greater and lesser in the Body....as well as that all of us are lower than the angels. But we are to walk perfectly (holy) in whatever measure we have received and attained, as well as keep growing and reaching to attain more. Phl 3:15-16 (Same chapter where Paul said he was not yet perfect) Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
The other morning I heard these words as I was awaking, "Who among you is without fault?" It reminded me of where Jesus said, "he that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her." And 1 John 1:8, "If we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves..." But we are admonished to walk holy, walk after the Spirit and not walk after the flesh and sin. How I am understanding it is that we are not expected to be as literally "perfect" and faultless as God Himself, but we can be holy in the same sense that He is holy, perfect in the same sense that He is perfect, but not necessarily in the same measure as God yet. At the same time we do have the blessed hope that one day we SHALL be like Him when we shall see Him as He is. When we receive what has been guaranteed to come. The Spirit WITHOUT measure, like Jesus had when He was on earth. The EXTRA oil. And spiritual bodies without sin. ( And we are reaching for that....we are doing our part in "buying" it as we pay the price to follow Jesus.) And THEN we will truly be faultless before His throne: Jde 1:24
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
Rev 14:5
And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.
