We are not totally perfect in every way. And saying this is just being honest. As long as people do not fall into the trap of using this to justify their wicked behavior and avoid sanctification... it is fine.
And yes, unfortunately there are people who interpret things this way.
"...only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh..." - Galatians 5:13
And understanding love is about actions, not just feelings.

I also love the verse that says, love is the fulfilling of the law. So in a certain sense, when you are walking under the love of God, you are not sinning, and in essence perfection is flowing through you. But we always still have to remember that there is always room to grow, and we can go always deeper in the love of God, and that we do not know everything. We are not totally perfect in every way. And saying this is just being honest. Yes. All the law is fulfilled in loving God and our neighbor. Yes . And if we love GOD we love truth , we rejoice in truth . Any who hates truth does not know God . For HE is truth . Put those hands up , giller , go on , put them up and praise the LORD .

I was looking at the various different verses with the word perfect in the new testament, via it's Greek word, and there are a few different ones, not just one or two.
Here is a good scripture:
Col 2:10 (10) And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
Now the word here is not the word perfect, but rather complete, but one of it's meanings is found in the word perfect.
Everything we need is found in Christ, we are complete in him.
Php 3:16 (16) Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
Let us walk with a perfect heart before God, and walk thereto unto were we have already attained, and go from there.
Mat 5:48 (48) Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
And in true reality, God's standard is total perfection, for the Father was perfect in every way, and God cannot promote any other standard than this.
Only one met this standard perfectly, and that is Christ Jesus, and we are complete in him, we are perfect in him, and he is our righteousness.
And sanctification wise, we seek to always allow Christ to perfect us in him to change us from faith to faith, glory to glory, grace to grace.
To ever mature in him, to ever be perfected by him.
More of Christ, less of me.
But always being reminded of what Paul said as well:
Php 3:12 (12) Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

If we think we are called to a carved-in-stone literal kind of "perfection" and think we have attained it...that is the danger with misunderstanding what God means by this.
It was apparently the very thing that the Lord was dealing with in Job....it wasn't until he saw God did he realize he wasn't as perfect as He is....not even close! It must have completely blown away Job's perception of himself. Oh to see the Lord in all His perfection...well we will in the end, and what a wonderful thing to look forward to...some days I'm so sick of myself I long for Him to blow "me" away and finish His work. Slay me Lord...no man can see the Lord and 'live', and that's a good thing... praise His wonderful beautiful name.
Job 32:1 So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
Job 42:5-6 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.
1Co 8:2-3 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
Gal 6:3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
Psa 144:3 LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!
It just makes me so mindful that we need to always walk humbly before the Lord.

You are right. We should always strive to do the best we can, but even when we do that, we will always come up short of God's holiness. If not for grace, nobody would be saved. The thing we need to be careful about is the attitude that since we can't be as holy as God, we may as well sin all we want that grace will abound, which is a lie. God knows our heart, and knows when we are making an effort and when we are not. Job did everything he knew to do.

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Matthew 6:21
"For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders,
adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies." - Matthew 15:19
Now the hypocrisy:
Many people know that they will not get as wicked as their favorite celebrity,
but they keep worshiping and following all they support or do.
They still may not get as wicked as their celebrity, but they are still looking forward to it.
"...unless you repent you will all likewise perish." - Luke 13:5
"I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance." - Luke 5:32

Forward , march in the Lord . And let all be thankful unto Our LORD and SAVOIR . Don't matter what time it is , ITS TIME TO PRAISE THE LORD .
