And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ — Ephesians 4:11-13
Paul didn’t say a teacher could advance to prophet if he had more faith. Gifts are appointed for service to meet the needs of the church, and God can use a donkey to correct a prophet.
I do understand what Letters is saying, and to a great extent he’s right. But I don’t believe we can achieve the office of prophet by making sure we have enough faith.
Correct . But what it does mean is all those gifts and to each one is given , IS USED to bring up the BODY into the SAME FAITH , THE SAME MATURITY .
Just because one is not an apostel , Does not mean in time he cannot have that SAME STRONG SOLID FAITH .
The gifts are meant for one thing , NOT TO SELF exalt , BUT TO TEACH and EDIFY the BODY that it grows UP into that same FAITH , pure and mature .
A simple woman can have the FAITH of an apostel , BUT SHE herself IS NOT ONE . A simple man can grow into the same faith as a prophet , BUT yet not be one .
The gifts are not for individual , BUT FOR THE BODY as A WHOLE and that we DO mature . Even what appears to be lesser , IS JUST AS NEEDED as the office of even an apostel .
FOR IT IS THE LORD working through each and every member to Bring them to maturity , that henceforth we be no longer tossed to and fro by popish men and lies of men .
BUT that we be SOLD IN TRUTH , GROUNED STRONG IN IT and IT IN US.
