Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. — 2 Peter 1:20-21
What do you think this sentence really says?
A) Men wrote the Bible under the Holy Ghost’s general inspiration and now the Holy Ghost will privately interpret it just to you.
b) The Holy Ghost wrote the Bible to say exactly what He wanted to say, and there is no need for private revelation to interpret it.
Take another close look at the verse above and see which option is true.
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
And that from a child you have known the holy scriptures, which the Holy Ghost can use to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture was written by man on inspiration of God and is profitable for man’s purposes of creating doctrines, reproof, correction, and special revelation to instruct in righteousness.
Which of these versions is what Paul really said?

There is no way of interpreting or understanding Scripture correctly without the Holy Spirit.
Scripture must be interpreted by faith, and understood by faith.
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God,
who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." - James 1:5
"But let him ask in faith, with no doubting..." - James 1:6
"...for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind." - James 1:6
"For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord..." - James 1:7
"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!" - Matthew 7:11

We just can't do without the Holy Spirit...who is led by the Spirit are the sons of God. He reveals things to little children and hides things from the wise and learned. If we have understanding of anything it is because the Lord has revealed it to us, and to Him be thanks and glory. The flesh profits nothing.
