Put me down in agreement that KJV is still the most accurate. frienduff if you want to tweak the NT and make a little book to send to Dezi, I’d be open to helping. This is definitely something we could do together as a group, and it could possibly be something that could aid others in addition to Dezi down the road. The reason I have not done this in the past is because I see the KJV Bible as a perfect English translation, and even doing our best, I don't think it will be as pure. Still, I do recognize a problem that exists, where people claim they can't read the old English language, and are intimidated by it, thus they turn to really bad translations that completely change the meaning.

It is possible you won't have any difficulty at all. You could always have a New King James Bible to compare the Authorized King James Bible with, if you really couldn't quite figure something out. Frienduff's idea is interesting. I have thought about trying to create something word for word to the KJV Bible in today's English, for the express purpose of making sure it didn't change the meaning or leave anything out, but that would take a lot of time. I am not necessarily opposed to the idea. I think it is doable. I got an idea . We start in romans and go through jude . we will do acts , revelation and the gosples last . An idea is that I will do romans . Butero you do first corinthains . When we get done we can mail them to each other to read and we test and ensure its word for word . then we mail them to Candace . She reads both . maybe get Cletus or another to read them and test them for being word for word accurate . We can all have a part . This way also we can be accountable too. Let me know what you all think . If so , I will begin asap with romans . Maybe we could do this with three of us . me you and Cletus . But only if one is led . If not then at least they can read it .
From the position of qualifications, Candance would probably do a better job than any of us in putting these books into modern English without changing the meaning. She could be one that helps with some of the actual books, not just proof reads them. That is, if she has time? We all work full time jobs, so nobody in this group has that much time on our hands. See who wants to help. I will see what I can do with 1 Corinthians. You have Romans. See who wants to help with other New Testament books? I would be okay with anyone in the leadership helping out. Certainly Giller and Cletus could help if they want to, but I have no idea of anyone's schedule, so nobody should feel pressured to do this.

We can all use Google docs. It’s a free thing you can do on the Internet. All of us could view the whole document and read it together. Then if people had questions or disagreed with the wording in a verse, we could hash it out.

frienduff could work on Romans, and then he could email his document to me, and I could put it on Google Docs and then everyone involved on the project could see it. It would be private so that the group could see it by invitation only. Let’s see how it goes with making progress on the epistles before we jump ahead into making a book.

there is another option, might be hard to find one but its a KJVER... e.r. stands for easy reader. they changed ye to you, but its still KJV. they also underline certain words and have a margin/footnote of another word that better fits our english today. I have one and when I first started in KJ it was a very useful tool for me to gain understanding of the KJ dialect. I got mine for free from a prison ministry. the bible is one of those big "family" bibles. its purple with a big sword on the front.
I just googled it and christian book dot com has a paper back for 13.99. not a big family bible like mine so idk if they do the same underline thing.

I never heard of it, but that may be the answer.

for the record, I am not trying to rain on the parade of everyone coming together to modern-english-ize the KJV. it could be highly edifying, and if done will observe.

I know absolutely nothing about google docs , formatting , tabs . What I will do is hand write it . Like its a letter unless we want the verses to be in it . I can type , but when it comes to tab , exclamation marks , peroids , and etc , it would be faster for me to hand write it . And some thought I typed the way I do because I cant write English . Nope , its because I know the letters and all , but not the rest .

That's why we will call it the kjv starter aid . Because I am with you on this butero . I just have never seen such pure truth worded In such beauty as the KJV. But I also know for some reason some folks might have a hard time with the kjv .

If its easier . we can do a book at a time . What I mean is just make one lil book for romans another lil book for corithians and so on . And then later , when everything is done , LORD willing if we have that much time left , We can put the whole thing together into one book and call that the kjv starter aide .

Frienduff you can send me handwritten pages. I can type them up and share them through Docs. That way John and the others can see what you envision.

Let everyone who names the name of Christ , praise the LORD . Let all that has breath praise and rejoice in the Lord . To the Lord be all the glory and let the sheep of His pasture honor HIM in all we do or say . Hands up and praise the Lord .

I believe God will help you understand the KJV Bible. That is all I have and I understand it. Sometimes I might need to look up a definition, but not that much.

I have not had a chance to review it, but I just heard about a translation called King James 2000, where they claim to have modernized the language without changing the meaning. It might be worth a look. I still would have reservations about fully trusting it, but as a companion to the Authorized King James Bible, it might be helpful?
