I just heard a minister say that the Fearful will burn in the lake of Fire.... here is the scripture. This means I will go to hell for my phobias?
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Before you panic, give me some time to look into the meaning of that verse in context. Normally, I would not bother to respond so quickly, without having examined the text, but I don't want you to worry unnecessarily.

For the record, I do not believe phobias will cause you to end up in the lake of fire, but I will take the time to examine the text.

The word in the Greek means dread, timid, faithless. What was taking place in this passage? It is speaking about overcomers verses those who are not. Revelation 20:7,8
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
What I think this is saying is that those who choose to take the mark of the beast and worship his image to save their lives will wind up in the lake of fire. I don't think this is speaking of phobias, like fear of height or spiders or tight places or things like that. I think it is dealing with those who let fear rule them during the tribulation period. That is my initial thoughts on this.
As for your phobias, I believe that the Lord is able to deliver you from them. I do not know what all you are afraid of, but God can set you free. Just about everyone has fears of something. Most of the time, we just accept it and live with it. Still, God can set you free if you keep seeking him, but I don't think your eternal soul is at stake over it, unless you let fear cause you to do things that are sinful out of fear.

This means I will go to hell for my phobias? "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,
who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit." - Romans 8:1
Are you in Christ Jesus?!
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." - 2 Timothy 1:7
"...you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you..." - Romans 8:9
"And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness." - Romans 8:10
Claim your freedom to walk without fear.
Fears can be overcome, and they sometimes are a process, sometimes are instant...
"...According to your faith let it be to you." - Matthew 9:29
I have overcome some of my fears. I am making progress, thanks to God, but there is still other things to overcome.
But one thing we know:
"being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work
in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ..." - Philippians 1:6
I believe the only fear that will get someone out of heaven is the fear of believing and confessing Him.
"Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.
But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven." - Matthew 10:32-33
Trust in the Lord and His love.
"As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love." - John 15:9
"...He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing." - John 15:5
Blessings!

it could also mean the fearful... those who would fear man or the antichrist and go with the beast system instead of being like those three hebrew boys in Daniel...
oh king we are not careful to answer thee... our God can, and will deliver us from your hand... but even if he wont, be it known unto you oh king, we will not bow to you idol or worship your gods.
The Book tells us ... Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
to me this makes sense because this is the kind of fear that denies Jesus LORDship in our life. we reject Jesus if we bow down to the beast.

The perfect love of the Father casts out all fear for fear hath torment.... 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but Perfect Love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth has not been made perfect in love. When we continue to study the Word of God, He builds our faith and trust in Him. It is like a marriage or friendship. It grows over time. We grow more and more trusting of God, believing He is who He says He is and believe and have faith that He keeps His promises. When we are fearful in that verse you are talking about, it is like saying, "I don't believe or trust You God or in your power, I don't believe you are who you say you are." When we trust in the Lord, it is credited to us as righteousness, like the example of Abraham, Sarah, and all those who trusted in the Father. They knew He kept His promises and that He was powerful enough to fulfill them. Hope this helps!

I appreciate the responses here... I sure pray that you all are right! I am working on these things to overcome... my first step was getting of the medication. Well, I am off the one medication but still have the Antidepressants to get off of. This has been the hardest thing I've ever done. I am doing it for the Lord though. I feel he was telling me that I was in sin for depending on these meds. My mind and body are still recovering from all the years on this Benzodiazepine. So, I think I am quite brave in the way I have come off of these meds and with all the horrible side effects I am not going back on them... I will endure. I've told the Lord that I am doing this even if I die. I hope he sees that I am trying to be brave. I do not want to disappoint my Father in any way. I just find it very difficult to believe that God would send me to Hell because I am fearful of something. I know it's a Spirit and I am trying to undo this stronghold in my life. I have not given up!

When Christ fills the heart there is no room for fear. When the mind is set upon Christ, it is GUARDED BY A GARRISON (POWERFUL) and kept in peace. When someone is delivered from the power of the enemy, and from sin, and from the power of the world, there is no fear. (except fear of God, which is much different and is necessary). When (even) A CHRISTIAN trusts in man (mankind/society/man's wisdom/professionals) YAHUWEH SAYS "I MYSELF curse them" (yes, even a believer is subject to this as Yahuweh declares). Our Creator is a Jealous Creator, and will not tolerate any other gods in our hearts or minds or behaviour and time. Fear is 'taught', often in the womb, by the parents, and often in baby-hood and childhood. A child that is 'taught' right, "raised in the way he should go" , HAS NO FEAR.

My fears are a generational curse... they have been going on deeply in my father's side of the family for generations. I am the first one trying to cancel them with the one true God. I was not raised to be this way. My mother has little; if any fear. She is one of the bravest women I've ever known. My parents moved us away from family when I was a baby so that I would not be around those family members. My genetics have even been changed by it. But, with God I will be delivered!

Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. — Hebrews 10:35-39
There are numerous verses in the NT that touch on this. It refers to people who abandon God because they can’t handle adversity, and they succumb to the world because they’re afraid of the world, but then they dread judgment day. It becomes an infinite loop of fearing both sides.
It has nothing to do with biological phobias.
