The apostles tell us to examine ourselves in light of Scripture to see if we are of the faith. We must be willing to take a good hard look at our personal condition as compared to what’s expected of us. This is how we will know we are saved; not by whether we ‘feel’ saved or if someone told us we’re saved — but by how closely our lives have come into alignment with the Scriptural description of a Christian. If it quacks like a duck, it’s a duck; if you live like a Christian you’ve proven you’re a Christian. Inspired by John ‘s excellent teaching on the list in 2 Peter (click this link to watch the video) here is a breakdown of that list. Please score yourself from 1-10 (be brutally honest) on how well you have mastered these things in your life. Put aside for a moment any theological/philosophical excuses on why you may not be exuding these qualities. If you don’t honestly assess where you are, then there is no point to philosophically discuss it. Let’s give ourselves a score card. You may choose to share your personal results, or not. The important thing is to examine yourself. Peter wrote this list for people who’ve already obtained faith. This covers where to go after you receive faith. If you have not received faith, you will not be able to go much further in the rest of this list, at least not to your Christian benefit. Virtue

First of all, thank you for your kind words about the message. As far as how I would assess myself, there is room for improvement. I felt like the Lord gave me this message Saturday, and as I was studying the text, I realized that in large part, it really is a choice we make day in and day out, to diligently work to improve in our weak areas. My strongest point is probably in knowledge, as that is something I have always sought the Lord for, wisdom and knowledge. I care about getting it right because it is God's Word.
Patience and temperance have been my weakest areas, but I have made major improvements, especially in the area of temperance. I have had to do better with self control over eating to lose weight, and that carries over to other areas. I am also working on patience. I tend to want to know everything right now, and don't like waiting on things, but I can tell you that I am improving there too. I totaled things up and got about a 48, but the number isn't as important as recognizing that we can all do better if we are honest, and God expects us to put in the effort. I believe that if we do, He will give us the grace we need to succeed. It is about being serious with God.

Each week, I do a weigh in to see how I am doing on my diet. Here is a thought. Do an assessment today, and then work on things. Then take the assessment again each week and see if we are making improvements. Don't be satisfied till we get 10 on all of them.

I scored myself at 40. You are probably very hard on yourself. I was going to give myself a lower score, but felt like the Lord showed me I was being a bit hard on myself, so I gave myself a couple of 7s, where I was going to say 6. No matter where we are, God sees our heart and if we are making an effort, and I really believe He will see our sincere desire to please Him and help us, God has given me grace with my diet. I didn't have the willpower on my own. I definitely lacked temperance, and I am still a work in progress.

Well you are also older/wiser than me. I’m a high-strung girl in my 30s.

this is a pretty good idea. i have already been noticing in the past two years God increasing these things in me. never thought to try and put a score to it. i recommend for people to do this and date it and come back to it later and re do it if you cant look back and see God moving you forward, or cant remember.
its important to be able to see growth in these areas in our life. if we cant it may mean we have become luke warm. and luke warm gets spewed out... rejected.
i need to cool off. i still feel my body emitting heat from working today. when my brain is more relaxed i will attempt a score. with some of that brutal honesty.
I also want to say not to be nervous about scoring yourself. God is faithful, and if we set our heart and mind to Godliness he will help us with everything we need.

Cletus you must live in texas man . This heat and working in direct sunlight , just zaps it out . I was telling this to sister turtle today . I sweated profusely in that sun , my eyes even turned red due to all the sweat just stinging them . It was flowing like all get out . And then a small cloud came over , And instant I felt relief . Its the direct sunlight that will not let the body cool down one bit . I had a cooling rag around my neck and everything and was just dripping all over the place . Well, at least I wont have a high SODIUM count . With all the salt I sweated out , they could have dried it up and put on a salt lick for cows and even they would cringe .

Sister I got another idea . We should rate one another . Now I know this might be a bit harder because we don't know all what goes on. But just from what we notice . We should list what we see as strong points in each person and then what we might see as a weak spot in them. THIS can also help others when they examine themselves too . SO go ahead sister , you first . How do you rate me and what areas do you see I might need improvement on . I got no hard feelings if I get a seven . So long as the person doing the rating , is doing it for my own good then I am happy . Cause if any of us do have a fault and we cant see it , IT sure needs to be shown to the other , for their own good . So go ahead sister , what do I score , FROM just what you see on the computer .

Sister candances report card . EIGHT , Seven , six, five , Seven , six , six. Some might be lower in person I don't now . But that is how I scored sister candance . I almost put patience at four , but then realized no its five . See if your highest areas match how I matched you and etc . See if its similar . A forty five . Again this is not quite as accurate if you are with a person In person . But lets see if what we score ourselves is close to what we score others and if the points in the areas are similar .

frienduff you scored me a bit higher than I scored myself! I said 40, you said 45. So I will split the difference and go with 42. Here’s how I would score frienduff... nine, seven, seven, eight, eight, eight, seven. That works out to 54. Based on how I perceive you online.
