WHEN ITS PAYBACK TIME!
Ray a servant of the Most High God; Greeting and Salutations! I thought it best to address the Christians of the world concerning the subject of vengeance and retribution by way of the Book of Romans written to the Roman Christians by the Apostle Paul. It is my intent to be revelatory and edifying to the Brethren around the world. Praying for those who are facing persecution and the threat of death; that we as an uncommon people lift them up in prayer and supplications asking for their trials of affliction to be shorten by the mercy of the Lord. I pray that God would hasten our prayers in answering them to the deliverance of these afflicted and that their testimonies would stand strong in the sight of their persecutors. That by their very afflictions many of the persecutors would receive Christ; their own consciences testifying against them. Let the love of Christ strength our brethren in their afflictions and cause many to come to Christ. Now; let us address the issue at hand. When it’s Payback time! The scriptures speak the precise will of God concerning it:
(17) pay back to no man evil for evil. take thought for what is right and seemly in every one's esteem.
(18) if you can, so far as it depends on you, live at peace with all the world.
(19) do not be revengeful, my dear friends, but give way before anger; for it is written, "'revenge belongs to me: i will pay back,' says the lord."
(20) on the contrary, therefore, if your enemy is hungry, give him food; if he is thirsty, quench his thirst. for by doing this you will be heaping burning coals upon his head.
(21) do not be overcome by evil, but overcome the evil with goodness. Romans 12:17-21
The first reference to burning coals of fire is found in Leviticus 16 when God instructed Moses on the rituals concerning the altar. To make an atonement for the people:
(12) And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail:
(13) And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not: Leviticus 16:12-13
Sprinkling the coals with incense caused a cloud to rise up and cover the mercy seat in the holy of holies. The significance of the burning coals of fire had to do with the sacrifice for sin and forgiveness.
This is confirmed in Isaiah 6:
(5) Then I said, “Woe is me! For I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell among a people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, Yahweh of Armies!”
(6) Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar.
(7) He touched my mouth with it, and said, “Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away, and your sin forgiven.” Isaiah 6:5-7
Burning coals of fire have the purpose of cleansing from sin. Therefore, to heap burning coals of fire on someone’s head is to bring them to repentance so that their sin may be forgiven. It’s about affecting their conscience! When someone sins against us, it is not vengeance we are to seek but rather seek to ‘overcome evil' with good deeds that will make our enemy ashamed and burn his conscience, filling him with ‘godly sorrow that leads to repentance and salvation’.
(10) For godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world produces death. (2nd Corinthians 7:10)
They will know we are Christians by our love!
(9) Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
(10) Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
(11) Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
(12) Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
(13) Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
(14) Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
(15) Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
(16) Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Romans 12:9-16
Brethren Christians are against what God is against. However; today many Christian adhere to the sloppy agape gospel of the tolerance of every kind of sin under the sun. When it comes to Christian against Christian the word of God gives us steps of resolution. However when it comes to blatant sinners saying they’re Christian that is a whole different matter for the word gives us examples of naming names and excommunication. Yet the bible tells us he that wins souls is wise. The art of soul winning comes by experience and by being led of the Lord. As a Christian my best interest is for the eternal habitation of the lost; which is to see them go to heaven. But I must be honest concerning sin; I can’t sugar coat what God explicitly calls a sin or sinful behavior.
Brethren I have spoken to you from a pure heart; I with affectional love exhort you to seek God for any anger, revenge, or animosity which may be harbored in your heart. Ask him with sincerity to deliver from the pain which permeates in your memory. Ask him to heal you completely and to give you the strength to forgive your offenders. He will answer the fervent prayer of sincerity and deliver you in due process as he takes you through the steps of restoration. God has the best payback plan on the planet! Go on git you some! Some what? Some deliverance up in here in the mighty name of Jesus! Selah
Shalom, Agape, & Amen!
