The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

It is so easy to get caught up in this life where we don't consider our soul and our eternal existence. I don't see any problem with having money set aside for our old age, but it shouldn't be to the neglect of our soul.
This rich man was all about self. He had an over abundance, but his thoughts were not to share with others. They were all centered on self and a life of ease. It is nice having the Lord with us to speak forth reminders like this, that we shouldn't be covetous. This life is short, and there is no promise of our next breath, let alone the next year or decade. Eternity is what matters most.

“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old,
a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” - Luke 12:32-34
“And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind.” - Luke 12:29
“But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.” - Luke 12:31
Trust in God for provision (and anything else).
“Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty,
nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.” - 1 Timothy 6:17
“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have.
For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”” - Hebrews 13:5
May God bless you in Jesus' name!

exactly . Worry not over the morrow , for no man knows whether his soul will be required of him this very night . THE LORD has me . I have absolutely no retirement , no hopes in anything , BUT IN THE LORD . And while I am not old quite yet , I remember this , I have been young and am now OLD , AND HAVE NEVER SEEN the righteous lacking or seeking bread . THE LORD feeds sparrows , BY ALL MEANS HE WILL FEED andtake care of me . NOW PUT THOSE HANDS UP and PRAISE THE LORD .

Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. Take this to the prosperity gospel , because they consider the abundant life , MONEY . they are COVETOUS . The abundant life is simply this , TO KNOW and LOVE THE LORD . THAT IS THE ABUNANT LIFE . NOW HANDS UP AND LET ALL REJIOCE IN THE LORD .
And here is a true example of a man WHO DID KNOW JESUS . I HAVE ALL , and I ABOUND . That man had the abundant life . HE DID . And he wrote this FROM PRISON . FROM PRISON . EXACTLY . THE ABUNDANT LIFE is simply this , TO KNOW and LOVE THE LORD .

exactly and yet the fake prosperity preaches always talk about HOW GOD will give us that ABUDNANT LIFE . And yet they all about the money . AND JESUS would look at each one of them and say , exactly what he said to those men . THEY are seriously covetous . But I promise us all this , THE ABUDNANT LIFE has nothing to do with the things of this world , For even if we lack all and were In prison HAVING JESUS WE WOULD HAVE ALL JOY and knowing HIM we would have all peace . The peace , joy , abundant life , that money cannot give , nor can the loss of things , EVER TAKE AWAY . ITS A HANDS UP PRAISE FEST TO THE LORD . To KNOW and LOVE THE LORD is THE ABUNDANT LIFE . OH let us rejoice in the LORD my friends , let us REJOICE IN THE LORD .
