A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. Then said he unto the dresser of the vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down, why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

I’m always kind of afraid to reply to those because it’s like, what do you say to Jesus?!?

What do you think about this parable? You have a fig tree bearing no fruit that is about to be cut down. If not for the dresser of the garden intervening, it would have been fire wood. This was it's last chance, and it needed assistance. Who is doing the intervention for this condemned tree asking for one last chance? We know the Lord intervenes for us as our great high priest. We also know that sometimes God uses his people to intercede in prayer. The fruitless tree wasn't being offered unlimited grace, but only assistance and one last chance. What do you think?

Well we know fig trees are Israel in parables. As I see it, Jesus spent three years in active ministry looking for a harvest in Israel. After the resurrection, Pentecost would come and they’d get one more chance. They sealed their fate when they rejected the apostles.

Our hearts and mouths say , AMEN O LORD AMEN . WE love thy TRUTH and thy words are as a deep hidden treausure unto our souls , as honey to the taste they are , OH LET US feast on them and by HIS LOVE OBEY all things He has said . We know what to say to HIS WORDS . one word . AMEN . NOW HANDS UP and PRAISE THE HOLY LORD .

Its simple . WITHOUT JESUS it will never bear fruit and its simple that JESUS also works through men too . What JESUS began , SHALL NEVER DIE , THROUGH HIM the lambs have carried on the message of the gospel , the message of all things HE FIRST TAUGHT and said while on earth . FOR IT IS THE SPIRIT which is working through us . And it is why JESUS said , if they hear not , receive not your words , THEY HEAR NOT nor reiceve MY WORDS and thus they hear not nor reiceive not HE WHO SENT THE SON . JESUS is the producer of all good fruit . And all who even dung the tree , ARE DOING SO BY HIM . FOR WITHOUT ME , YE CAN DO NOTHING . OH , MAY ALL QUICKLY run to JESUS and learn HIM well , thus that means also learn what those apostels wrote . LEARN the sound doctrine well , And be watching , FOR THE END IS TRULY DRAWING CLOSER .

After the resurrection, Pentecost would come and they’d get one more chance. They sealed their fate when they rejected the apostles. Indeed they sure did . But I got the same good news paul did , AND these can be grafted back into their own tree , IF they continue NOT IN unbelief . Which also goes to say , IF you continue in his goodness , otherwise we too can be cut off .
FOLKS an all out return to JESUS ONLY SAVES and to do as he said an TEACH all men to OBERSEVE not some , BUT ALL THINGS HE DID TEACH , must be done .

What do you think about this parable?
Unfruitful Christians beware. The patience of the Lord will eventually end in His wrath.
“For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it,
and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God;
but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned.” - Hebrews 6:7-8
“And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees.
Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” - Matthew 3:10

A lot of interpretations, but I see truth in all of them.

There is no question the fig tree is representing something else. What Candance said fits in that Jesus' ministry to Israel was 3 years and then came Pentecost. Was the tree cut down, or were branches removed?
There is no question that a Christian that fails to bear fruit will eventually be destroyed and be as a tree that is cut down and cast into the fire to burn. Good and interesting responses.

Israel was cut down to a stump when the first temple was destroyed. The prophet spoke of a green sprig coming out of the stump of Jesse. Just because a mighty trees fallen doesn’t mean the stump is removed.

Also this , Do notice in one of the translations , IT EVEN SAYS for the time of the fruit was not yet . JESUS KNEW FULL WELL that the time of the fruit of that tree was not YET , YET CURSED IT anyway . THERE IS WAY MORE THAN MEETS the EYE on THIS PARABLE . BECAUSE HE KNEW the time of the fruit was NOT YET , and yet had cursed the tree . Its not about just some random fig tree , ITS WAY more than this . JESUS was saying SOMETHING . There was a meaning to this .
