GLEAN, GATHER, & GIVE
Today true compassion is difficult, for its healing streams are dammed from flowing abundantly through the allowance many obstructions of inattentiveness and preoccupation, and unfortunately dried up by the fierce heat of selfishness.
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. (Luke 6:38)
Sow into Good Ground that you personally know is Good Ground! Sow into your Church, into People, into other Ministries; but also sow prayerfully lest you cast your seed to swine and they turn and tear at you.
1. Ourselves
2. Our time
3. Our talents
4. Our influence
5. Our money
Today there are many tares among the wheat; tares rob us of what should be allotted to wheat. We can sow the gospel to the tares and pray that God will save them. But tares are usually sown by the enemy to devour the resources which develop the wheat into a viable crop that reproduces itself to the advancement of the Kingdom.
Compassion moves the heart of the humble to enrich the lives of others spiritually, mentally, physically, socially, and financially. A humble heart’s reward is the satisfaction of love’s work in the lives of others. Give and it shall be given back is not the motive of a charitable heart. The reward is in the giving itself; the satisfactions that love has been expressed and received. Self has died and Selflessness is the resurrected new creation.
When we give in biblical fashion we are clothing ourselves with the new man who is created in the image and likeness of Christ Jesus! We are putting on the Lord Jesus and not making provision for the flesh or the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes or the pride of life. It’s all about Jesus, for Jesus, sustained by Jesus, and to the glory of Jesus! Our judgment then is righteous according to righteousness and not by appearance. Luke 6:38 isn’t so much focusing upon the getting but the giving; for it is more blessed to give than to receive.
Brethren keep the faith today by asking God to show you where you may be holding back by compassion in your lives; either by complacency, preoccupation, apathy, or just plain selfishness! God has called us to be Christ-like in word and in deed. But we must also remember not everyone who says Lord, Lord, is of the Lord. There are many con-artist and scammers out there who will readily take advantage of the unwary and the naïve Christian; therefore pray for discernment when giving! Selah
Shalom, Agape, & Amen!
