1) We’re on page twelve of this argument because I deeply fear for the theological growth of hypothetical babes I imagine to be reading this, and totally ‘not’ because my flesh wants to win an argument
2) I put a great deal of thought into this rant I posted ninety seconds after seeing your rebuttal
3) I’m totally open to having my mind changed if you prove me wrong
4) I really believe you love the Lord as much as I do
5) I’m not a different person around my unbelieving friends
Can you think of any others?

1. The verses you posted can't mean what you said because they contradict scriptures I posted to prove I am right.
2. In the original Greek, it means the exact opposite.
3. Marin Luther or John Wesley or someone authoritative agrees with me.
4. The overall majority agrees with me.
5. Here are references to scriptures I didn't post and you aren't supposed to read that back me up.
6. You are using sloppy hermeneutics and poor exegesis.
7. The Lord showed me I am right, end of story.
8. The letter kills, so when I feel okay doing something the Bible says is wrong, the Bible must not mean what it appears to say. You can't go by appearance.

“My criticism of Paul’s attitude and dismissal of his teachings in no way imply that I don’t believe the Bible is perfect.”
”My refusal to believe that verse has nothing to do with the fact that I don’t believe it.”
”You should come to my church because it’s really different.”
”I read The Message for its profound and vibrant theological perspective.”

Here is a favorite of mine. Long before they are through arguing...
I'm done with this topic!

Similar to that last one, long before they are done arguing...
This topic really isn't that important to me.

A lot of the things they say are based on psychology. If you go to YouTube, there are videos on techniques to win an argument and influence people. You will see they use many of those tricks.

Here is a false accusation people throw around.
The reason you don't admit I am right and you are wrong is you are full of pride.

Heh. Yep. “Your lack of self-reflection is due to pride, but mine is clearly due to the fact that I’m right.”

i/ll pray for you. if this one hits home for you then you have something to prioritize. Yes indeed, another common lie. We’ve all probably done it once or twice. One thing I like about our weekly prayer night here is that we publicly show our commitment to pray for each other.

One thing I like about our weekly prayer night here is that we publicly show our commitment to pray for each other. I know I have done this in the past, not meaning to. When I tell someone I will pray for them now, I will immediately stop everything and pray for them on the spot. That way I know that I have not told them something I wasn't going to do. Because we have a weekly prayer night, I also know we will pray for them together on that night. That doesn't mean I am not praying for them at other times, but I am making sure to follow through.

Just making up things that are not true. One guy made up that nearly all commentaries and the overall majority of Christians believe in OSAS, which isn't close to being true.

Nobody can go a day or even an hour without committing sin.
All sins are equal.
