Here is another horrid song by Skillet which I only mention part of it, which this song mentions nothing about God:
"The secret side of me, I never let you see I keep it caged but I can't control it So stay away from me, the beast is ugly I feel the rage and I just can't hold it
It's scratching on the walls, in the closet, in the halls It comes awake and I can't control it Hiding under the bed, in my body, in my head Why won't somebody come and save me from this, make it end?
I feel it deep within, it's just beneath the skin I must confess that I feel like a monster I hate what I've become, the nightmare's just begun I must confess that I feel like a monster
I, I feel like a monster I, I feel like a monster..."
Feeling like a monster has absolutely nothing to do with repentance, and what hope is there in this song?
There is absolutely nothing about God, or anything of God's ways, it is just shallow and empty.
And many songs in so called Christian circles purposely remove God out of their songs, so they say not to offend, but if you remove God, Jesus and so on, you are offering nothing to people, not to the church, not to any body, and in this song you may as well be listening to a wordily song, for really that is what this song really is.

Now of course it is us Christians who are called to worship God in spirit and in truth.
Joh 4:24 (24) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Let us sing unto him out of a pure heart, but also let us know what we are singing.
It must be intelligent worship, and not just add words together and not know what you are singing about.
King David seemed to know what he was singing about.

Here is just some of the lyrics of this so called Christian (hard rock) band called Skillet which is horrible, and there is nothing about God, and victory in God and so on in it. The song is called "Hero": "I'm just a step away I'm just a breath away Losin' my faith today (Fallin' off the edge today)
I am just a man Not superhuman (I'm not superhuman) Someone save me from the hate
It's just another war Just another family torn (Falling from my faith today) Just a step from the edge Just another day in the world we live
I need a hero to save me now I need a hero (save me now) I need a hero to save my life A hero'll save me (just in time)
I've gotta fight today To live another day Speakin' my mind today (My voice will be heard today)..."Nothing about reverence towards God, or the building up of one's faith, just a pointless, useless song. Nothing biblical about it. I have heard that song, and I agree that there is nothing in the lyrics that make it Christian. It would fit right in with secular rock music. Groups like this to me are just entertainers, they are not doing a ministry.

It is a rock song being peddled to Christians. Since the group calls themselves a Christian artist, you are supposed to feel better about listening to them and supporting them as opposed to secular groups and their music.

Let us sing unto him out of a pure heart, but also let us know what we are singing. It must be intelligent worship, and not just add words together and not know what you are singing about. King David seemed to know what he was singing about. People are making a mistake when they look at contemporary Christian singers as co-laborers for Christ and part of a ministry in song. There may be some doing that, but most are entertainers. Many would prefer to be in secular pop and rock, but they aren't good enough talent wise to make it there, so they sing secular songs and call them Christian. I have an old album by a contemporary Christian artist with a medley of pop songs on it that includes songs like "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head." I think it is Chris Christian? I was listening to a "Christian" radio station one day that was listener supported, and they have a program on the weekend where they play pop music including groups like Abba. For a long time, I saw "Christian music" as a ministry, but most of it is not. If you simply look at them as musicians that are in it for money, maybe you won't be so frustrated by the lyrics to their songs.
When it comes to praise and worship, you have to be very selective. You don't want to bring songs like you mentioned into the church, although many churches today are about entertainment too, and no more a ministry than the artists you mentioned. Candance pegged them right when she calls most churches a business using marketing tools. That is what most of them are. They take advantage of Christians.

Here are some “Christian” lyrics that will give you a chill. This is from Toby Mac. Fell out of the sky, hit the ground running The future is tonight, they’ll never see us coming Taken by this urgency, don’t let the moment pass The kingdom is alive, we’re stepping on the gasChristians are never described as fallen from the sky. Only one kingdom in Scripture has that distinction. Only one kingdom works at night or expects a future in the night. Instead of being a pointless secular song, these are spiritual lyrics that seem to be going in the wrong spiritual direction. Yet this song was on Christian radio with nary a qualm.

Nothing biblical about it. Irony alert. I just read an article on a prominent church leadership website where this exact song was recommended for worship.

Ya they are not being careful with their lyrics, not much reverence.

Wow... oh my word... this is so steamy I don’t even know if it’s rated PG.
Are you guys ready for a romance novel disguised as a worship song?
Your love is extravagant Your friendship, it is intimate I feel I'm moving to the rhythm of Your grace Your fragrance is intoxicating in the secret place Cause Your love is extravagant
[Chorus:] Spread wide in the arms of Christ there's a love that covers sin No greater love have I ever known; You considered me a friend Capture my heart again
Your love is extravagant Your friendship, it is intimate I feel I'm moving to the rhythm of Your grace Your fragrance is intoxicating in the secret place Your love is extravagant
This has to be a joke. Darrell Evans (writer) has to be trolling Christians at this point. No one can be this stupid.
And what do I learn about Darrell Evans?
Darrell Patton Evans (born October 6, 1968) is an evangelical Christian musician and songwriter, known primarily for his contributions to contemporary Christian worship. Influenced by the music of Bruce Springsteen and U2, his style of music is noted for its extensive use of free form composition...
Casting Crowns and Matt Maher both covered this song. People really sing this as worship in big conferences.

Can anyone think of a hymn that is truly not scriptural?

Can anyone think of a hymn that is truly not scriptural? There are a lot of songs that promote false doctrine. I am not sure what you are looking for?

Oh just to show people a couple of examples of hymns that are not biblical, and I was wondering do you of any that promote the false doctrine of once saved always saved?

By the way, there is a person I know that knows of an assembly to were the woman, were saying that they were getting intimate with Jesus in their worship to the point of getting an orgasm. They took intimacy in that way. But we know worship is not sexual but spiritual.

"You Are Loved" by Hope's Call This song not only promotes OSAS, but also promotes the idea that we don't need to confess our sins because they are all automatically under the blood covering. I used to run an internet southern gospel station, so I have this CD.

Ya reading it carefully I can see this.
Thanks for the example.
Is this song considered to be in one of the hymn books?
(Although it does not matter if it is or not, thanks for example anyhow)
