That thread that Giller started about worship songs and gospel songs that are secular got me thinking about how all of this is a reflection of the problems we have in the church today. Candance recognized this immediately when it comes to the church. She sees how it has become a business, not a ministry. Because of my background in radio, including southern gospel radio, I see it in what is passed off as a ministry in song, when it is really just a business. We need to separate the worldly from the Christian. We need to return to Biblical order in all things. We need to seek first the Kingdom of God. Why do secular singers put out secular music and call it Christian? Why do they choose to dress like the world and seek to fit in? It is all about money, and being successful. Why do churches become seeker friendly? They want to be successful so they can get rich and do this full time. Then there is the hidden agenda by some to actually destroy the church from within that Candance exposed in another thread. Do we really need to follow the world's methods to succeed in the ministry? Is God really going to bless this? I have been saying that in the church, we need to forget about everything we know about how they do things, and start over using the Bible as our foundation. We need to do the same thing when it comes to a ministry in music. What should determine our choices when we decide what songs are sung in church, what songs are played on the radio and how we should present ourselves as Ambassadors for the Lord Jesus Christ? Should we seek to fit in, or should we seek to please God? We have to decide what we are going to be. Will we run our ministry as a for profit business, or are we about souls and about pleasing God?
