CHRISTIANS SHOULD REST IN THE BLESSED ASSURANCE OF CHRIST’S RETURN
(1) Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in Me.
(2) In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
(3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, so that where I am, you may be also.
(4) And where I go you know, and the way you know.
(5) Thomas said to Him, Lord, we do not know where You go, and how can we know the way?
(6) Jesus said to him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by Me. John 14:1-6 MKJV
Anxiety, fear, and confusion are definite signs of the unstable mental make up of a double mind. I have addressed the emissions of our emotions because of double mindedness in the body of Christ. Jesus is not suggesting, but making an imperative statement when he says “ let not your heart be troubled “.
He is calming our anxiousness, our trepidation, and any confusion by declaring he is our anchor in this life, and has already prepared an eternal place of rank and order, hence a permanent habitation with him after this life. He declares emphatically to the hesitant Thomas “ I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life” it is through Jesus we have a blessed assurance of eternal life.
(23) Jesus answered and said to him, If a man loves Me, he will keep My Word. And My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.
(24) He who does not love Me does not keep My Words, and the Word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father's who sent Me.
(25) I have spoken these things to you, being present with you.
(26) But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatever I have said to you.
(27) Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
(28) You have heard how I said to you, I go away and I am coming to you again. If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, I go to the Father, for My Father is greater than I. John 14:23-28 MKJV
The proof of desire is pursuit, the proof of love for the Lord, he says is obedience to his Word, those that keep the Word or another way to put it would be doctrines or “ teaching” of Jesus, the Father will love and abide with and in through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, Praise the Lord! The product of love and obedience is peace which passes all comprehension. Wow! That’s awesome!
However in stark contrast to this, a double minded person is unstable, anxious, fearful, and in mental confusion. This kind of mentality effects every decision they make, and every action they take. There is no overwhelming peace that calms to the core, so they become unstable and consequently unsure about life. Everything becomes a crisis in their lives because there is no anchor of hope that keeps them steadfast and sure in the ever changing winds and waves of life. Jesus is our anchor in the storms of life, he assures us that he is with us and in us and working through us.
“ Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Brethren, keep the faith today, by keeping God’s Word alive in your hearts! The Word quickens Peace that makes us bold, intrepid, and stable in the worse of times.
