Here’s the deal on how far a demon will go to deceive you...
Every spiritual creature knows that Jesus is the Son of God. This is a fact which Satan’s kingdom cannot deny.
And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time? — Matthew 8:28-29
However, they stop short of admitting the gospel.
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. — 1 John 4:2-3
It will never benefit Satan’s kingdom to preach the gospel, under any pretense. A demon can try to deceive you by making a reference to Jesus, but it will always be a Jesus of a different gospel. Preaching the gospel and taking the risk of helping you get saved is not something they will do. They are opposed to the work of the cross and will not confess its power.
We see in the story about the girl in Acts, that once Paul delivered her, her masters lost their income. That’s proof positive that she ditched them as soon as she was free. No evil spirit would let her know that Paul was bringing a real chance of salvation, even in the faint hope of being able to mock Paul.
