2Co 1:8 For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: 2Co 1:9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: 2Co 1:10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;

It's a deep one for sure. The first part is talking about their physical life being threatened, then having the sentence of death in themselves in the middle part is talking about dying to themselves through the trial they were enduring, so that their trust was in God alone........and then the last part I believe switches gear in a sense and is alluding to being delivered from a worse death.....meaning the second death, lake of fire, etc. As though they abandoned themselves into God's hands knowing that He is able to raise them from the dead and save them from a worse death. A very precious scripture to think upon, brother. Most of us haven't endured half so much.

I was posting this as its been a verse of comfort for me here lately. sometimes when you are looking at your problems and drowning it is humbling to hear of others in a worse situation than you and seeing them keep their hope and trust in God. its in those moments when God is letting you know... I Am with you. And then the mountain seems so small.
