Something that I thought might make an interesting topic, is the portion of the book of Job, where God speaks directly to Job. We all know the story of Job, and how he was tested by the devil, and continued to keep his trust in God. We also know that you cannot find doctrinal truth in the conversation between Job and his friends, as in that conversation, they are just uttering their opinions. It is faithfully recorded, but God winds up rebuking them all for thinking they have understanding of things they are clueless about. It is at the latter part of Job that we see God's response. I have always thought that we are overlooking things here regarding the creation, because this is not the main emphasis people place on Job.
What I want to do in this thread is break down the words of God, and discuss them, section by section. Lord willing, I will add to them every so often. I think that we all are guilty at times of being as Job's friends were, acting like we know all about how God thinks and does things. Some of the things they say make logical sense, but they are still personal opinions. Consider all of the times we say God does things this way or that way. Now, let us look at what God has to say about those kind of conversations. Let's begin this discussion in Job chapter 38. First, let's see what God says before he gets into the creation. Job 39:1-3
THEN the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.
Have you ever made comments where God might be angry with you as he was with Job's friends for speaking out of turn? I suspect we all have been guilty of this kind of sinful conversation. We think we have it all figured out, but I would bet that when we stand before God, we will be shocked at how wrong all of us were. We can learn a lesson from God's correction of Job and his friends. Don't forget that we will be held accountable for every idle word we speak.
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding? Job 38:4
Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Job 38:5
Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; Job 38:6
When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Job 38:7
Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? Job 38:8
Who among us can rightly answer these questions? None of us were there at the time of the creation.

We probably do all make assumptions about God, saying things like we are an authority on how he operates, when we are just giving educated, and sometimes, not so educated guesses.

We can see that the earth has foundations. That is interesting in and of itself, because when you think of a foundation, you don't normally picture something floating in space. Still, the foundations could be the earth's orbit? There is also the fact that as was pointed out in Genesis, God calls the land earth, and the water seas, so he could be talking about the dry land, which would have foundations.
Things were carefully designed, as he speaks of precise measurements. Of course, I know God didn't use an actual measuring tool. He knew exactly what the size of everything would be. I would think the "morning stars" were angels, as well as the "sons of God." They shouted for joy when they saw God's handiwork.
When God speaks of shutting up the sea with doors, I believe it just means that God placed boundaries where they couldn't pass a certain point. If not for that, they would flood the entire earth.
No, none of us were there at the creation, and we are not qualified to speak as though we were. All we can do is seek to know as much about the Bible as possible, and believe what it says about how everything got here. It wasn't through chance and a big bang. That much is certain.

I just realized I had posted the wrong chapter to go with those verses. It should be from Job 38, not Job 39. I corrected them in the OP. Sorry for the confusion.

When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it, Job 38:9
And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors, Job 38:10
And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed? Job 38:11

Scientists come up with explanations on how nature works, but it is really simple. God decreed it and it was so.

Scientists come up with explanations on how nature works, but it is really simple. God decreed it and it was so. Scientists always begin from the standpoint of explaining everything without a creator. I know there are exceptions, like those who call themselves creation scientists, but most reject the Genesis account of creation. They are still searching for answers to things we already have in the Bible.

Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place; That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? Job 38:12-13
It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment. And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken. Job 38:14-15

Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth? Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death? Job 38:16-17
