The altar today is the heavenly altar, and when we pray we come before this altar. In fact he sprinkled his blood before the heavenly altar. That is true, but we aren't physically in heaven, so the place we meet with God is our altar. Everyone understands that. If someone doesn't like the word altar, just call the place we pray something else. Call people to pray at the bench up front. I don't see the big deal!

I looked up the word altar, and it refers to a place of sacrifice. Because we remember Jesus sacrifice during communion, in church it is the communion table.

It is on page 3, 3rd last.

It is like in that old song where it says a sinner made an altar out of a stump.

That's a fair question. Is there a Biblical name for where we meet with God besides a prayer closet? Is there a Bible word for every possible thing?

Is there a Bible word for every possible thing? You know what I am getting at 777, what is the altar to God today, that is a simple question. And we know what our prayer closet is, it is when we shut ourselves in with God in prayer. The bible clearly defines the altar, just like it clearly defines repentance.

The altar is just what we call the place we meet with God. That is how I look at it. Your bed or sofa or a bench could potentially be your altar, if that is where you kneel in prayer. In the church, you can make your pew your altar. By the definition, I think we were using the word wrong, but I am not sure what is right?
