This new section was suggested by 777. The object here is that one person will post the first verse in a book in the Bible, and the next person will post the follow up verse. I will start out once again in Genesis for our example. Lets say that the first person posts Genesis 1:1. The next person would come along and post Genesis 1:2 and so on.
IN the beginning God created the heaven and the earth
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Hopefully, this will be another way of getting us to all examine the Bible.

And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. Genesis 1:5
I hadn't notice this before, but Day and Night are capitalized, like a name given to someone rather than a word. You don't see evening and morning capitalized. It may not mean anything, but I found it interesting.

And God called the light Day...
and the darkness he called Night.
So the Bible is saying that the name of light is Day and the name of darkness is Night. Day and Night are actual proper names, not just words. Interesting.

And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. Genesis 1:6
So we see the entire world covered in water, and God causes firmament to come up in the midst of all of that water to divide the waters. We often see the dry land divided by the water, but it is the other way around. The land is dividing the water. An example would be that firmament is dividing the Atlantic Ocean from the Pacific Ocean.
This verse by verse thing might turn out to be quite interesting.

I was originally just using Genesis as an example of what we were doing in this section, but since we are actually going through Genesis, I went ahead and changed the title of the thread.

That's true. I've read Genesis a lot, but never saw that before.

And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. Genesis 1:7
This is interesting, because it mentions the firmament dividing waters which were under the firmament from waters which are above the firmament. What do you think this is talking about? Is it the water underneath the ground, like underground streams or like when we dig a well, or is it speaking of waters above our heads like in the clouds? At this time, it hadn't rained upon the earth yet, but the ground was watered with dew. That makes me think that it may have been speaking of water under the dry land, but I'm not sure.

And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.
Genesis 1:8
Not sure what firmament means.
