If you had to give a strategy for studying the Bible for a new believer, what would it be? I guess that the first thing I would suggest is that they get a KJV Bible and a good Greek and Hebrew Dictionary and Unabridged Concordance. I recommend Strong's Greek and Hebrew Dictionary, because many of the other ones are not Dictionaries, but commentaries disguised as a Dictionary. You want one that just gives the definition, and nothing more. I would suggest that before they try to study it, read the Bible through at least once. Start in Matthew and read through Revelation, and then go back and start in Genesis and read all the way back through to the end of Revelation. Then I would suggest that they go back to Matthew, and take more time. Go section by section, and see what is really being said. Notice the context as well as the words. If there are words they do not understand, look them up. Look for other passages that relate to the passage they are studying. This would be both New Testament and Old Testament passages. Don't get caught up in seeking out commentaries or rely on web-sites to explain scripture to you. Let the Holy Spirit be your guide. Ask God to show you the true meaning each time you study, and expect He will reveal it to you. Let God guide you rather than people.
