VISION
(1) I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.
(2) And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
(3) For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
(4) Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. Habakkuk 2:1-4 KJV
Habakkuk’s vision was of coming judgement upon Israel; and God had a fixed time for that judgement to come. God’s reply was for the purpose of preparing the coming generation for his coming judgement and for the righteous to understand it. Yet we can use this short passage as model for seeking the face of God for the will and purposes of God for our lives.
Where should I go when I have questions that are fierce upon my mind? I know there is an eternal mind which is omniscient; and I have been granted access by faith into his presence. He is a God at hand and not far off; he is approachable and personal concerning me. Yet; there are times when I seek to hear and silence fills the air.
As a spiritual being I am a native of the Heavenly Kingdom; engrafted into the holy root becoming a partaker of the commonwealth of Israel and a receiver of the promises of God. We know that God unveils and reveals his revelation through his Spirit by the word, through our conscience, and by his providence. There are many spiritual truths and realities which are readily available and attainable; yet there are times we must separate ourselves to set a watch to ascend above our earthly activities and wait patiently upon an answer of enlightenment from the Lord.
When the enlightenment comes; it first must be seen by the petitioner; then they must write the vision down in plain words so those who read it can be educated, edified, and elevated spiritually (that they may run with it). Many times a vision for the purposes of grace, and God’s providential will are fixed in the future. We seek him in the present for things concerning our future. Many ministers separate themselves unto prayer for the purpose of finding the will of God and how to administrate their ministries. I remember when God separated me unto himself and called me into the ministry; I wasn’t looking to become a minister. I was happy that I was found of Christ and repented of my sins and was gloriously saved; yet God had a plan for my life that manifested itself through my prayer life and seeking his face for his will for my life.
The Lord answered and said; write the vision and make it plain! When God does reveal his vision which becomes our burden he is clear and precise concerning the dictates of the vision. Our responsibility is to make it clear and precise in terms which are understandable so those that hear or read will know the mandates of the vision which God has given us. God is not the author of confusion concerning his work in the body of Christ.
Brethren I sought the Lord and he revealed to me that he had called me out of the darkness to be an emissary to the nations. I have been to the United Kingdom (mainly Scotland and Wales), Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Puerto Rico, Ghana, and Nigeria preaching the gospel. When the Lord revealed it to me I was a young Christian pastor; but the fixed future for the manifestation of the revelation was ten years later.
Are you a Christian or a Minister seeking the plan of God for your life? I contend that if you set yourself aside unto prayer with a determination to hear God’s voice and that if you are willing to wait upon him; he will answer you and show you things to come!
The ratification of the vision is based upon the condition of obedience! First we declare what God has revealed without hesitation and without doubt or disbelief. We must believe that God has called and chosen us and do those things which secure it to ourselves by practicing our faith, virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love in accordance with the call of God.
(10) Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 2 Peter 1:10 KJV
When we understand our purpose and our prayers should also include the petition for instructions to proceed and progress. When we ask earnestly God will answer; it is his good pleasure to show you his will and purpose.
(17) That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
(18) The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
(19) And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Ephesians 1:17-19 KJV
Our God is a God of enlightenment which brings understanding to realize wisdom, revelation, and knowledge concerning our purpose.
(9) Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 2 Timothy 1:9 KJV
Set your face as a flint to seek God for the vision and he will show you an appointment with your purpose in due season. We must not weary in well doing; we must commit ourselves to walking in the Spirit. Let us be mindful of the eternal omniscient mind of God who has set things in order as it pleases him. Who declared when you seek me with all your being you will find me! Brethren; finding God means finding answers, purpose, and fulfillment. Selah!
