THIS know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy. Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2 Timothy 3:1-5

2 Timothy 3:1-5 We all know that we are living in perilous or dangerous times. We see danger everywhere. One thing that is interesting here is that in this case, the dangers seem to involve men in the last days, and the way they will be. After mentioning a whole host of sinful characteristics, it says that they have "a form of godliness," which to me, makes me think they are religious, but they "deny the power thereof." These are people that reject God's ability to change lives and work miracles. It is the children of the flesh. Perhaps they deny the power thereof because "they are lovers of their own selves" and do not want to let God change them? Regardless, they hate the true message of the gospel. They love to hear of forgiveness of sin, but not that God expects you to die to self and He will empower you to do that.
