The best way for men to understand women is to understand that there will never be a state of an individual woman that can be grasped and figured out forever because she is constantly changing.
That is our nature. We are changeable.
Our emotions, biology, opinions, and moods are constantly in a state of flux. We are constantly adapting to each new situation. That is a great thing but it can be confusing.
She may have thought she looked fine yesterday. But that was yesterday. Because of all the changing, she might as well be a different woman from the previous day.
We don't want to wear the same thing all the time. We want change. Variety. A smorgasbord of viable options.
Men are not like this. They want the best, quickest, option. That's it.
But we are changeable. This is why I think Paul instructed Timothy not to let women have spiritual authority over men.
A preacher of the gospel has to relentlessly guard the truth of doctrine. He must be unyielding and drive the Sword of the Word directly into people's fleshly hearts. Changeability is not an asset to this office. We can't let changeability come to play when it comes to the Word of God.
No, we are more suited toward effectiveness in a guided direction.
I'll put it this way. A sniper is going to assess a situation and try to get the best possible angle because he might only get one shot. He wants to laser focus on the target and make it count. A machine gun may not be as targeted, but they do a lot of damage in a larger area.
Imagine the effectiveness of the machine gun with the targeted accuracy of the sniper.
That is biblical complementarian marriage. The man is the sniper. The woman is like a machine gun. When both work together, a lot can get done and we begin to do some damage to the enemy!
Without targeted focus, a woman can still get a lot done. But "spinning your wheels" is a great possibility. A woman can and should get the targeted direction directly from the Lord Himself. He is happy to do that for us.
When I fully yielded to the Lord, I became a 1000% more productive. I no longer spun my wheels. Instead of a smorgasbord of viable options, the Lord spoke and said, "This first. Now this." and so on. He coaches me.
Men can do this too. A woman sees endless possibilities. They all seem important. The question becomes "well which one? It all looks important. I see a dozen tasks/options/possibilities!"
Then the man comes and narrows it down to one with a possible backup. That's the genius of the Lord. It's all supposed to work together.
Submission is supposed to bless both parties. The man, because he needs help and now has it. And the woman, because our helpfulness needs direction. We are the changeable ones.
Think about that.
