I tried dieting and it didn't work. I tried every trendy eating method.
When I got closer to the Lord I stopped overeating as much. I became a housewife and cooked more meals at home.
And it just seemed the less I cared about my weight, the more it has fallen off.
Since then, I've discovered I like having less food in my system. It makes me feel energetic and happy. And I love exercise--- not because it makes me appear thinner but because it refreshed my mind and brings mental clarity.
Now do I mind losing weight from praise dancing, house cleaning, fasting, and exercise and how I look? No.
But when it was just about feeling hatred for my appearance, I could not lose a pound. If anything, I'd gain weight.
I think stressing out over your weight makes you want to grab a cake and go ham.
The Lord fills me with love and satisfaction. I'm good now.
Does anyone eat with rules?
I thought portion control was good but as my activity increases, I'm having to eat more food just to avoid that starvation feeling.

rule number one is give thanks.
then there are things i avoid unless nothing else is available such as fried foods, the exception to the rule here is venison and catfish. i will eat fried venison anytime. i try not to eat pork. i try to go by Gods dietary laws... not as a law but as good common sense. the only thing i dont follow is catfish. it has fins but no scales. for me catfish is a cultural thing. raised up on it and it was at all family get togethers. sure there was turkey too... but it was not the main dish. i dont try to eat it alot. every so often.
i love my veggies and fruit.
no soda. yes to coffee, water, sweet tea, gatorade, and other various teas i make with herbs.. mint, chamomile, lemon, honey, green teas, and other stuff. ginger.
also i eat lots of peppers. did you know they have more vitamin c than oranges?
not to much salt or sugar. keep everything a happy medium.

To lose weight, I was on a strict 1000 calorie diet. Now I just keep an eye on my weight. If I see it going up, I will fast for a while or cut back. I do not have any strict dietary habits, like refusing to eat a particular thing, but I have cut all sugary drinks out, including sweet tea. I do not like to drink my calories. That is the easiest thing to control. I drink black coffee and seltzer water or club soda most of the time.

If I had tried that before, it would definitely have backfired. I'd be so impatient for results and hangry. I'd end up going for my favorite ice cream or cake. Building good habits over time with prayer seems to do the trick for me.

Some weeks I lost nothing, and the next I might lose 4 or 5 pounds, but it averaged 10 pounds a month. It is not a fun way to lose weight, but it does work.

Does anyone eat with rules? I do. But sometimes I allow myself to break them.
But I am following them most of the times, by faith. As long as food does not become an idol, it is fine.
“for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking,
but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” - Romans 14:17
Blessings!
