In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 2 Thessalonians 5:18
God is telling us that it is his will that we be thankful, and not just in the big things, but in every thing. One thing I have found is that it is often easy to overlook seemingly small, everyday blessings, and only give thanks when God does something huge, like moving mountains for us. It is like when we pray for little things, we will often forget about them when they are answered. How many things does God do for us day in and day out? How often do we give him thanks? God says it is his will concerning us that we remember to give thanks for everything.

Amen...a lovely reminder brother, and it's uplifting to think on whatsoever is lovely. We need to cultivate a thankful, grateful attitude in all things. The Lord doesn't have to do a thing for us, but thankfully He does, far beyond our just desserts!

Yes, we all should stop and think... Indeed, there are many blessings around us every single day.
To have water, food, a coffee, clothes to wear... A healthy family... There are people who wanted all these things but they do not have.
"And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content." - 1 Timothy 6:8
And obviously: His abounding grace, which is enough to keep us happy in all circumstances.
"...Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need." - Philippians 4:12
It is so good to know that His love is everlasting, He is always with us, in us; and we will not be condemned.
"Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him..." - Philippians 3:8-9God bless you in Jesus' name!

That is the prize!! God is good in all things He does. Many times when in distress, if I will just enter into His presence I can't help but praise Him because His goodness goes far beyond our temporal circumstances. "O taste and see that the Lord is good." Psalm 34:8

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thess. 5:18)
Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. (Matthew 7:21)
When we see this as a matter of serious policy, it changes our attitude.

YES . but their is one BREATH we must Be thankful for above all THINGS . THE BREATH OF ETERNAL LIFE GIVEN US IN CHRIST that AWOKE us from the dead. For without that BREATH , no other breaths matter. for at the end , our last breath , IF we had NOT the BREATH OF LIFE , only the SECOND death awaits. Man , one can always find reason TO PRAISE THE LORD . Butero , it just makes me want to leap up and dance .

But ONLY ONE breath of LIFE N JESUS to give us rest IN JESUS . OH man , the SPIRIT is such a joy giver, and in that JOY it always points TO JESUS which only increases JOY. I aint even going to try and count the number of reasons to PRAISE THE LORD . And in even the loss of all things , sufferings of all things , OUR JOY abounds FOR OUR JOY is HIS SALVATION . and that JOY can no man nor circumstance take . THE JOY of KNOWING THE LORD is with those WHO LOVE HIM . OH man, its praising time again Cletus . OH yeah , now throw those hands up and PRAISE THE LORD .

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thess. 5:18) Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. (Matthew 7:21) When we see this as a matter of serious policy, it changes our attitude. And it's not just because God likes to hear our thanks all the time, even though He truly deserves it. He doesn't want our thanksgiving to be rote or feigned, but genuine. And in order for it to be genuine we have to really believe in the goodness of God and His righteousness, and His wisdom above ours and His good purposes toward us. To believe otherwise about Him is evil, and He knows that our hearts are and will be tempted to go in that direction when things are difficult for us in doing His will (as happened repeatedly with the people of Israel in the wilderness), or when He doesn't answer our prayers right away or in the way we want Him to, or when we don't understand why He is allowing hardship in our lives when we're doing the right thing. He also tells us to do all things without grumbling or questioning (Philippians 2:14,15), for the same reason. It's evidence of our faith in Him and of our confidence in His word and in His character. To do otherwise is basically to tell God that He doesn't know what He's doing, that He's unfair, and that we know better than Him, and don't believe what He says in His word, or that He loves us or has our best interest at heart, which is an insult to Him, given who He is and what He has done for us, and does for us daily in all the ways we don't even know about. How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. (Psalm 139:17,18) Giving thanks is also for our spiritual benefit, to keep our mind where it should be---off of self-pity and away from grumbling. The Christian life is a hard life; it requires a lot of us, and often involves trials and things that are unpleasant for us. If we're not anchored in faith in God's love for us and in His wisdom and His good purposes towards us, and in His righteousness and perfection, we'll have a hard time of following Jesus. Because there will be times when it seems like it's not worth it, when we don't feel loved or cared for by God, when our sorrows outnumber our joys, when we don't understand the 'why' and God doesn't tell us and we just have to trust Him. So it's good to give thanks to God and not just ask Him for what we need, because it helps us to keep a right mentality and not to become embittered towards Him. Giving thanks in all circumstances---genuinely---strengthens us spiritually, whereas grumbling---besides being a sin---weakens us, making us more vulnerable to other sins and temptations.
