FAITH FOCUS
(7) The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
(8) The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
(9) The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
(10) More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
(11) Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
(12) Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
(13) Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
(14) Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Psalms 19:7-14 KJV
There is no law given among men that is greater than the spiritual laws of God. These laws transform us through the renewing of our minds. Those that adhere to them become wise; and those who ignore them stay at a level of insight that doesn’t mature them. The mandates of the Lord are righteous altogether and bring joy to the hearts; only God’s commands are pure and enlighten the mind. He is a God who will be feared and that fear will promote cleanliness and holiness. These spiritual laws are to be desired more than the finest gold resulting in a life that is sweetened by his presence. These spiritual laws cause an alert, an awareness, and discernment which results in the reward of serenity.
The psalmist is curious because to the reoccurring viciousness of the vices of sin. Its tenacity is often disguised in the culture stocking its prey endlessly. Though the vice is purged it has not become extinct; it chooses cunning being smooth and subtle in reasserting itself into the life of the believer. Yet through the discernment allotted us through our passion for truth we recognize the onslaught and we steadily detect and reject them accordingly through the power which resides in us to overcome. The desires, weaknesses, and sins of the natural life are greatly diminished in the spiritual life; they have altogether lost their alarming aspect; and we must show them no mercy and disperse them quickly.
We have in Christ the cleansing power of the blood; to destroy presumptuous sins and then to walk upright and innocent of transgression. It is certainly God’s prerogative and his work to cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of his Holy Spirit. “Cleanse thou me from secret faults” God is able to be to surface those things we’ve hidden, those things we’ve forgotten, and those things we were warned about so he can purge us and purify us in his sight. Then we align our thoughts with his word and speak accordingly to glorify our Lord.
(14) Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Psalms 19:7-14 KJV
Brethren our focus should predominantly be on our faith.
(8) Finally, my brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are right, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8 MKJV
(9) The doctrines and the line of conduct which I taught you--both what you heard and what you saw in me-- hold fast to them; and God who gives peace will be with you. Philippians 4:9 WNT
Our thought life is an important part of our spiritual life. Our faith should focus on the truth, honesty, right, pure, lovely and things of good repute. Wherever we can meditate on virtuous and praiseworthy things! Then we understand those to concern the doctrines of faith and conduct; and assimilate them through meditation for the purpose of demonstration in our lives. The result is a peace from God that sustains us through the trials and perils of life. We therefore become witnesses that following Christ redeems our lives to the point we no longer walk by the wisdom of men; but the enlightenment of the Lord.
Hence; what we focus upon fixates our minds and captures our thoughts; therefore it is imperative that the meditation of our heart be acceptable to God. Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith and our primary focus should be upon him, his word, and his will. He is named the Prince of Peace and his word secures us against the prince of the power of the air when he shoots fiery darts of wickedness into our minds; the word of God becomes a shield of faith that quenches and diminishes those thoughts.
(11) But let all those who take refuge in you rejoice, Let them always shout for joy, because you defend them. Let them also who love your name be joyful in you.
(12) For you will bless the righteous. Yahweh, you will surround him with favor as with a shield.
Psalms 5:11-12 WEB
We that trust him reside in him, and those that refuge in him are assured of his defense and him blessing us with favor as a shield. Brethren are you consumed with the cares of the life; are you overwhelmed by the disparities of life? Where is your confidence? Where is your faith? Is it in the shifting sands of the carnal concepts of humanity or is it in the eternal precepts of God’s glorious love and spiritual laws? Think about it!
Shalom, Agape, & Amen!
