I guess if we fail to take on-board the many, many, many warnings contained in the Tanach, then the so-called 'modern' believer seems to be condemned to repeat all those errors.
I have done so, and see that the Hebrew Scriptures are a herald to us. Beware the many failings that God's people of the Tanach committed. The scriptures are resplendent with time, and time, and time again warnings of idolatry, taking the Lord's name in vain, ignoring His Sabbaths and all the multitude of immoral sins that mankind can commit.
We just cannot pretend we are immune. If we do then we have embraced a heresy that will dog our footsteps and could eventually lead us to disaster.
The apostles and Yeshua built upon the whole of the scriptures to warn us of our penchant for failing and inventing our own religions and our own customs that somehow we think God will rubber stamp with His approval.
The Lord gives us far more freedom than we deserve, and so we use this thinking He is 'OK' with much of the stuff we do and get involved in.
Look out if you point this out to people!! Just because a prophet exhorts us to BEWARE does not elevate that person particularly. There are many many accounts of God choosing someone for His Work that later falls. Do not be surprised at this as nearly ALL the people that God chose in the Tanach fell at one time or another.
Rather, keep your eye on your own pail of water and make sure you do not spill a drop!!

Have steered clear of J. Mac. for a long time now. So many of the old-but-good seem to have fallen or gone astray. So much so that I cannot follow any 'popular' person any longer. Cessationists are fond of pointing out 'heresy' when they have those three fingers pointing back at them. And they both shall fall into the ditch... That's why I do not follow teachers, just good teaching. I may agree with a person's teaching on a particular subject, as it agrees with Scriptural truth, but where they deviate from that, I deviate from them. Just because I may post an article or a video from a particular person on a particular subject does not mean that I follow the author or the preacher, or that I agree with everything (or anything) else that they believe or teach. It's a mistake to form loyalties to people: Our loyalty should be to Jesus Christ and to the truth of God's word, and nothing else. We should not follow people, only Jesus. Being loyal to a person because you like them, or because other people speak well of them, is not good. If I had been listening to a preacher for 20 years and loved everything he taught because it was in agreement with the truth of God's word, and he was also a good friend of mine, and then he swerved from the truth and started teaching error, I would not let my feelings interfere with my loyalty to Christ and keep listening to the man. There is no preacher I have listened to that I would blanketly recommend. I might recommend an article or a sermon written or preached by someone, but I wouldn't just recommend the person. (I would encourage all Christians to take the same approach to preachers and authors that I do.)

tlsitd What you have said just confirms this truth even more:
"And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ." - Matthew 23:10
And that is why so many will be deceived... They are following men's teachings and not Christ's.
God bless you in Jesus' name!

This is the kind of reaction you get from a person that has been embarrassed, so they try to turn it around on the other person. This is someone who is unteachable. When confronted with scripture, he makes fun of it.
Was this person out of order? You could make that argument. Is he a prophet? Only God knows for sure.
Was john the prophet out of order when he called the pharisess what he did . Was JESUS , was paul . Was peter . WHEN the SPIRIT of GOD is upon one , Their message will be truth and their approach will often be direct , very direct , specially against those who have long resisted the message. The guy only said , YOUR cessation IS FALSE . he did not say anything else , BUT THAT . HE said HE WAS SENT to warn him . But they all LAUGHED it off. mocked . made light of it . I THINK what we just saw , was something we would have seen in the prophets of old . Same serious message, and same LIGHT hearted mockery OF that message .

Think about that for a minute . WHEN Pharisees showed up at the baptism of JOHN. John did not say hello , all are welcome . HE went right after them . WHO TOLD YOU to flee the wrath of GOD , BRING FRUITS that are WORTHY OF repentance . WOE UNTO YOU and JESUS had the same approach . SPECIALLY when the ZEAL of the HOUSE . HE picked up whips and went to town . Paul had a false one made blind . THIER Is something about the SPIRIT o GOD , . It is true for generations most of us , have not seen this kind of approach . SO its easy to assume that maybe they are out of order . BUT WHEN the SPIRIT of GOD rests upon one , to carry a message of dire importance . OFTEN it is very direct ,gave and serious . we just aint used to this kind of approach . Now , if the man had ran up on stage TO PUNCH Mcarthur , THEN YEAH that is out of order . But look even at the respose OF mcarthur. He did not dare say at that moment anything BUT HOW that man COULD NOT have even been a prophet . He did not even say at that point cessation was true . HE just quickly came up with anything due to he was embarrassed . He could not even aruge or make sense really. The proper thing would have been to tell that man . Sir , go ahead and tell me what you came to say . Instead of just having him throwed out . Macarthur could not defeat that man with his wisdom . SO instead its lets get security . I bet that man would have tore john up spiritually with doctrine and showed him his errors . BUT NO . that isnot allowed . Just run them off and make a BIG JOKE and get a big laugh about it . THAT Sounds just like examples in OLD TEST and some new test . The prophets warn , the people MAKE LIGHT OF IT .

I was watching the video again last night where the man rebuked John MacArthur. He definitely seemed sincere, like he believed God had sent him. I have looked all over the internet to see if anyone knows the identity of the prophet, and nobody does. He is just referred to over and over as the self-proclaimed prophet. I almost wonder if God could have sent an angel to warn John MacArthur. You would think somebody would know the man's identity, and we are told in scripture it is possible to entertain angels unaware. The man's message seemed genuine to me, and I don't know of any other way he could have gotten MacArthur's attention, so at least in my view, I personally believe the man was a real prophet and likely sent by God. If the message is from God, based on how MacArthur reacted, he will have to give account to the Lord for the way he treated his prophet and for teaching false doctrine.
YEAH. HEBREWS comes to mind . ANGELS appear AS MEN . THEY DO . you can feel them , touch them, JUST LIKE LOTTS days . And like paul said MOST have UNKNOWINGLY entertained THEM . YEAH . Butero their is no telling if that man was or not . BUT one thing is sure . HE seemed not only angry at JOHN, I perceived a heavy fear for souls from that man TOO. LIKE he had a godly fear for souls . THIS IS HOW prophets come , and its also how angels can appear . The two angels , THE whole town thought WERE JUST MEN. and them angels were their for one THING. THEY WAS ALL ABOUT the business OF GOD . THEY were given instruction and they held to it . and they did not play games with the wicked either . THEY BLINDED THEM MEN . Now we need to really pray more and just have all our affections above . Cause some of us too may very well enterain an angel and never KNOW WE DID . You very well could be on to something butero . HOW do we KNOW who this man really was . I mean HOW come NO ONE , NOT A SOUL has that mans name . FOR TWO reasons . EITHER he could be an angel, OR HE IS a true christain . and the names of true prophets are not as WELL KNOWN , you know , DUE to they aint so populoar and well received and well know n. But then again even the names of the true prophets were known as well. SO , what is of upmost importance , is not WHO he was , IT WAS THE MESSAGE HE BROUGHT . but you MIGHT be right butero. MAY very well have been an angel. Regardless , the effect had ole JOHN macarthur FUMBLING and stumbling for WORDS did IT NOT .

If God did send that man, I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of those who escorted him out or mocked him, including John MacArthur.

Ezekiel 13. I especially like verse 23.
