You have heard something, and it was very important, and yet you have a doubt:
Was it really from the Lord?
The good news is that, if you have faith, you can confirm it.
❝For God is not the author of confusion but of peace...❞ - 1 Corinthians 14:33
But why did I say:
You can confirm it if you have faith.
Because in order to ask anything from the Lord and receive it, you must have faith.
❝...let him ask in faith, with no doubting,
for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord...❞ - James 1:7
If you have faith you can ask and the Lord will confirm it to you, because:
❝Who confirms the word of His servant,
And performs the counsel of His messengers...❞ - Isaiah 44:26
❝...Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?❞ - Numbers 23:19
Then, we can come to the conclusion that a messenger from the Lord is not afraid of his word being tested.
Because he does not seek his own glory and he knows the Lord is powerful and faithful to confirm the word.
❝And they went out and preached everywhere,
the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs...❞ - Mark 16:20
But how can I ask a confirmation from the Lord and how should I proceed?
Actually, how the Lord can confirm it to you is limited only by your faith.
❝...for with God all things are possible.❞ - Mark 10:27
An example from the Bible:
❝...the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him,
“The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!”❞ - Judges 6:12
❝...the Lord turned to him and said,
“Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel
from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?”❞ - Judges 6:14
❝...the Lord said to him, “Surely I will be with you,
and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.”❞ - Judges 6:16
Later, Gideon asked a confirmation to know whether the Lord actually said it, because his faith probably weakened considerably, to the point of needing a confirmation.
Because we all know that, if the Lord has spoken, He will do it, no matter how impossible it seems to be.
And Gideon probably doubt it because it was too great for him, and he needed to be sure the Lord spoke it before proceeding.
❝...Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe...❞ - John 4:48
Then Gideon asked:
❝So Gideon said to God,
“If You will save Israel by my hand as You have said —
look, I shall put a fleece of wool on the threshing floor;
if there is dew on the fleece only, and it is dry on all the ground,
then I shall know that You will save Israel by my hand, as You have said.”❞ - Judges 6:37
And God, who is rich in mercy and patience, confirmed it:
❝And it was so. When he rose early the next morning and squeezed
the fleece together, he wrung the dew out of the fleece, a bowlful of water.❞ - Judges 6:38
And God did what He promised to Gideon, and He delivered Israel through his hands.

❝...whatever things were written before were written for our learning...❞ - Romans 15:4
