Right now I'm feeling convicted because of the music that I have been listening to.
I have iheartradio and its a personalized radio app and Ive mostly used it to play seculat rnb.
Im not trying to say at this point that no one should listen to secular music.
But the type of music Ive been listening to has put unwelcome ideas and attitudes in my head and I know it.
I want to run the race so as to win the prize of heaven and Im realizing this music hasn't been what Ive needed.
Ill give you examples. There's this rnb/pop artist named Tinashe and for the longest time Ive ignored her posing in her icon picture covering her left eye like the Illuminati do and ignoring the content of her songs.
Also, as much as I think I love Aaliyah the rnb artist, the content of her music and Tinashe's are virtually the same. Now her music comes off more "tasteful" but she still talks about doing things that will leave you outside the Kingdom of heaven.
Plus, lately Ive felt this sort of unease and discontent when thinking about God and reading my Bible and prayer, and I honestly think its the music Ive been listening to.
Im thinking about the standard that God had for the Israelites in Leviticus: Touch not the unclean thing.
I know someone on here once told me secular music is not a sin but my conscience is not clean on this issue and this feeling of unease about the things of God definitely has to go.

I have pretty much gone away from secular music and back to all southern gospel for much the same reason you mentioned. It is not so much the sinfulness of it, but there is no question that the lyrics can effect your mood and attitudes about things. If you feel like God is convicting you, then you should listen to that inner voice.

Not many pastors, teachers, sermons, teachings, messages, correctly address this. Watchman Nee, Jesse Penn-Lewis, David Wilkerson, and others did.
Sinful music, words, lyrics, feelings, emotions, and leadings are all rather promoted, allowed, and made money from, and used to gain popularity.
"Whatever is born of the flesh, is flesh, and good for nothing. "
"Whoever loves (desires) the things of the world, cannot be a friend of God" ..."
God is simple and clear , to the pure in heart.

I am just now seeing this thread. after reading the OP a secular song came into my mind. I do not know all the words or even who its by but the portion of lyrics i do know goes like this.... Dr-Drop it likes hot... drop it like its hot. Yeah. its a rap song. There is always a void when we leave off something like music, and i found its good to replace that music/time with worthwhile music with worship. secular music is not Christ centered. it does not put God first, it does not seek God. it has nothing to do with God. it does not edify you. I cant even listen to it anymore based on the content of the lyrics. if the content is wordly its against God. its praising the enemy's kingdom even if its not about the enemy. let that sink in. Eph 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. Eph 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Eph 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
well now,.... that dont say secular music....
Col 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
and that dont either...
lets see what David sung way back since He was all about them Psalms.
Psa 40:3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. OOOooooOOOOooo... a new song it says. You ever wake up with a song in your heart? You ever got that song deep in your heart and you just got to get your worship on? ASK HIM... Ask Him everyday for a song... even a new song.... and you'll be singing alright. God wants a song in your heart... and not none of that secular mess. Ask Him about a new song in YOUR heart today! its even cheaper than itunes.... PTL PTL !!!

David Wilkerson was well known for helping people escape drug addiction, demon possession, prostitution, and pastor deception (seeker friendly false gospel) , and other things, directly , short and long term, and in the Biblical Flow of Jesus' Power and Grace from Above.
Does anyone reading today know of any help anywhere for someone who is addicted to drug(s)/sinfulness ? Evil spirit(s)/music ? False teacher(s)/confusion ?

The devil does not come with pointed red ears and a pitchfork, no. He comes in vlad's videos with all the catholic practices and trappings and deceptions. He comes in a white medical outfit and the force of the medical establishment behind him (they've been his for over a century). He comes into our homes thru the television, the computer, the 'revivals' ,
and he is 'welcome' into homes because he appears as 'cool', 'helpful', 'authorized', 'promoted'(by pastors, priests, bishops, popes, forums, brothers, sisters, neighbors, sickologists, counselors, sunday school teachers, bible study leaders, bible colleges, at all levels) . He has the credentials to 'prove' he should be listened to. Perfect credentials, impeccable paperwork/ history/ references. Total fraud. Guard yourselves from idols. They are everywhere. They are promoted by (even) Christian teachers and denominations and web revivals.
For God's Instructions for a clear conscience, read Hebrews frequently, and of course all Scripture daily. Meditate day and night on Scripture directly.
May God accomplish "on earth as it is in heaven".
May we all desire His Way, and renounce man's fleshly worldly ways.
Be pure, for He is Pure.

Sin: rampant tod=ay more than yesterday, more than last week, more than last year, more than ever before. According to 1 John, sin is the transgression of God's laws. As such, when it comes to questions about whether or not something is a sin, you have to decide if it violates God's standards. All secular music does not, but much of it does. When it comes to the various forums, carnality can come into play, and people can at times sin in their speech. You mentioned Worthy Christian Forums. The problem there is not that the forum is sin, but that many in the leadership sinned by bearing a false witness against others to justify various forms of control or punishment. Then there is the issue of what is called Christian music, and the biggest problem I see there is the love of money driving it. There are few that are in it for the right reasons, but at least Jesus is preached through the lyrics. Since I am programming gospel music on an internet radio station, I am mindful of the messages in the songs, and when I catch a false message in one, I remove it if it slipped past me. I am not going to play something just because it did well on a chart if the message is bad. When it comes to medicine, to me it is about mind altering drugs, not all medicine. That is where pharmakia comes into play. It is not speaking of aspirin as being sorcery. You are bringing up a lot of different thing here.
Back to secular music. I have been listening to nothing but gospel music of late, not so much because of a sin issue over lyrics, but because of something few consider, and that is not to love the world or the things of the world. That covers a lot. Do we love sports, secular music, movies, television shows, the political system? All these things will pass away. I feel like God is calling us to come out from among the world and be separate in our lives, so I am taking steps to do that. It is not always about a "thou shalt not," but it can also be about divided loyalties between God and the world. We should not have one foot in the world and the other foot trying to follow God. I have been thinking about this a lot lately as I have seen evil increase at an alarming rate in just about every area. This also applies to the church at large. The church has become largely corrupted, and more and more Christians are finding themselves having to separate by coming out from organized religion.

Searching online for an example, entertainment (worldly, social, ungodly) is sin. This is only an excerpt from the search, the website may not be all correct, but this quote is right on:
"You Can't Serve God and Entertainment | Desiring God [Search domain desiringgod.org] www.desiringgod.org/articles/you-cant-serve-god-and-entertainmentEntertainment was used to distract me from the guilt of sin, friction in relationships, or anxiety about work. It became what daily prayer and Bible reading should have been: a safe haven to retreat for rest and comfort."
As Scripture Says Clearly, our God is a jealous God, totally Righteous, and does not ever promote sin. "Redeem the time, for the DAYS are evil"
"Save yourselves from this wicked generation" "Whoever seeks Him purifies himself because He Is Pure" "Walk in the Light while there is still Light"
Romans 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
Galatians 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
"World conditions were hardly conducive to the foundation of a new and different religion. Pagan gods were still the gods of the state, and the Roman government was very superstitious. All calamities were considered the displeasure of the gods. When the dissolute Roman government began to crumble, it was not seen as a result of corruption within, but as the anger of the gods; and thus there were strong persecutions against Christians to placate these gods."
The reason why men do not look to the Church today is that she has destroyed her own influence by compromise. ~ G. Campbell Morgan (B. 1863- D. 1945)

Love not the world . For all that is of the world , the lusts of the flesh , the lust of the eyes and the pride of life , is not of the Father but is of the world . The Spiritual Man excerpt Chapter 33 Desire
Desire Occupies the largest part of our emotional life: it joins forces with our will to rebel against God’s will. Our innumerable desires create such confused feelings in us that we cannot quietly follow the spirit. They arouse our feelings and make for many turbulent experiences. Before one is set free from the power of sin his desire unites with sin in making him love sin and in depriving the new man of his freedom. After he is liberated from sin’s outward manifestations the same desire drives him to seek for himself many things outside God. And while a person is
still in the emotional state he is controlled mainly by his desire.
Not until the cross has performed its deeper work and one’s desire has been judged in the light of the cross can he wholly live in the spirit and for God. When a Christian remains carnal he is ruled vigorously by his desire. All natural or soulish desires and ambitions are linked with self life. They are for self, by self, or after self.
While carnal, one’s will is not yielded fully to the Lord, and so he holds many ideas of his own. His desire then works together with his ideas to make him delight in what he wills to have and to expect to have his own ideas realized.
All self-delight, self-glory, self-exaltation, self-love, self- pity and self-importance issue from man’s desire and render self the center of everything. Can we conjure up anything man himself desires which is not linked to something of self? If we examine ourselves in the light of the Lord we shall see that
all our aspirations, no matter how noble, cannot escape the bounds of self. All are for it! If they are not self-pleasing, then they are self-glorifying. How can a Christian live in the spirit if he is engulfed in such a condition? "
