Joshua and Caleb were the exception to a whole generation barred from the Kingdom of heaven.
This put the fear of God in me as I now understand that God is looking at hearts, not numbers. The Israelites that rejected God and grumbled all died in the wilderness.
I cannot reach the promised land on my own or by my own strength. Only the blood of Jesus and His power can help me get there.

That is true. Only those two of the old timers were allowed to enter in. With them were those who were 20 and under at the time God pronounced his judgment on the people. It is amazing how longsuffering God was with them before he disinherited them! Look at all the miracles those people saw, yet they could not enter in because of unbelief. That refusal to go in and possess the land, and threats to return to Egypt, and murmuring against God when He was about to give them their possession was the last straw. You can only push God so far, and you do not know what the cut off point is.

Gen 39:20 And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison. Gen 39:21 But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison. Gen 39:22 And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it. Gen 39:23 The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.
what ever happened to Joseph, He didnt sulk or complain, He just put it in Gods hands. Paul had the attitude about being in prison... I'm here for Christ.
if self pity is allowed to set in then you wont be used by God until its completely removed. the remedy... to give it to God and trust Him to bring about His will and us be willing and ready completely accepting of how things fall out.
this is a hard thing to face in todays world. let us be in prayer for ourselves, and others in this.

There is more to learn from this story, it's a warning and example for us all, for sure, but it's not all bad news....flesh cannot inherit the kingdom, only spirit....the Israelites had to "die" in the wilderness, ie, their flesh, so that they could enter the promised kingdom in the spirit, as it were. All those that were "born" in the wilderness entered that land of Promise. His word is a light unto OUR path, praise the Lord.

Makes us even more grateful and thankful what our Lord Jesus Christ has done for us. Keep clinging to Jesus. Only He can see us through. All our hope is in the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings. And we know what to do, noses in bibles.

Based on the text, I can't see that they entered the Promised Land physically or spiritually In the literal sense as a historical account, you are right, they didn't, and that serves as a lesson for us. But on another level, showing us another lesson, it's a type and shadow portraying something further. I think I will just leave it there, sister, and put it on a back burner for another time. Or here, I'll just leave something to ponder for future reference, as a clue....why does scripture say to believers that it is through much tribulation that we enter the kingdom.....when, wait a minute I thought we had already entered it when we first came to faith in Christ....yet that scripture seems to imply that we have yet to enter it. Well, it's like we have and we haven't. The same way that everything has been put under the feet of Christ, but is not yet put under His feet.

Heb 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; Heb 3:2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. Heb 3:3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. Heb 3:4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. Heb 3:5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; Heb 3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. Heb 3:7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, Heb 3:8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: Heb 3:9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. Heb 3:10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. Heb 3:11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) Heb 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. Heb 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. Heb 3:14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; Heb 3:15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. Heb 3:16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. Heb 3:17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? Heb 3:18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? Heb 3:19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

Not disputing that one iota. But there is more, because God's word is not just two-dimensional, but at the very least three-dimensional, or possibly we could even say multi-dimensional in some places. The bible says His wisdom is MANIFOLD.

Not disputing that one iota. But there is more, because God's word is not just two-dimensional, but at the very least three-dimensional, or possibly we could even say multi-dimensional in some places. The bible says His wisdom is MANIFOLD. ...because the whole nation of the children of Israel, of what was "born" of them, did enter in. And that nation was circumcised a "second time". Follow the breadcrumbs and dig deep in the word to mine its treasure, because it is a light unto OUR path if we are going to enter into what has been Promised. We dont' want to be of those who didn't enter because of unbelief. There REMAINS therefore a sabbath rest to the PEOPLE OF GOD (that's us). We have entered it but yet it remains that we still need to enter it. We may think we arrived when we came to faith in Christ, but there is still more to go. The blood bought (Passover) children of Israel underwent two baptisms, one at the Red Sea but then a trek through the wilderness until secondly the Lord brought them through another obstacle..... the Jordan River. It’s through much tribulation that we enter the kingdom....that speaks of a baptism of fire. Jesus baptizes with the Spirit AND with fire. Just think, the way to the Tree of Life is guarded by angels with flaming swords that we have to pass through. Well, I'm loving this, and pray we will all have eyes to see, and moreover that you will accomplish it in our lives, Lord. Thank you Jesus for your wonderful light. Isa 43:2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

The 'baptism of fire', or immersion in fire, might be referring to the lake of fire, destruction, for those condemned, some already, some on Judgment Day, for their unbelief. Some stories are circulating that the Biblical account of Israel was (so-called) 'spiritual' and not actual.
Those stories are leading people to destruction. Or , rather, they are part of a complete, whole, enourmous system attempting to lead people to destruction, everywhere on earth.
Note though, that in the Days of Noah, only EIGHT PEOPLE out of the whole world were saved.
And again, out of Sodom and Gomorrah , how many people survived when the cities were destroyed ? Only Lot and his two daughters.
And again, when the Boxer Rebellion slaughtered Christians and the Christian Evangelists in China, how many survived ? (Goforth of China and His Wife barely survived, being let down by rope out of wall surrounding the city thus escaping death , when hundreds of other missionaries were put to death that day) .
