I believe to grow in humility is something we all should be constantly seeking.
Sincerely answer this question to yourself:
Is your level of humility higher or lower in comparison to when you first came to know Jesus?
Humility is very, very important in our daily Christian walk, and if we resist it too much... Then our flesh will overcome.
"Pride goes before destruction,
And a haughty spirit before a fall." - Proverbs 16:18
We can never be too humble, obedient, and cautious to what the Holy Spirit is telling to us.
But we can definitely be too proud. Pride is what hinders repentance, growth, walk, and sanctification by the Spirit.
As it is written: God resists the proud but give grace to the humble.
"looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of
bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;" - Hebrews 12:15
"...you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear." - Romans 11:20
When we start noticing a proud behavior, we need to cut it as soon as possible and humble ourselves before God.
"Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up." - James 4:10
That is also what we should ask in prayer, and daily... Because we can never be too close to the Lord.
The humbler we walk, the more closer to Him we are and the Lord will have great pleasure in us.
"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you
will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you." - John 15:7
And what I mean by humble is to deny the flesh, our sinful nature, and start walking by the Spirit.
And in this we need to learn to grow daily... For our own benefit, and for His glory!
"I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." - Galatians 5:16
I know, this is not something that may happen overnight... But we have to start as soon as possible.
Keep seeking, asking, knocking... And He will certainly come closer to you and sooner than you expect.
"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you..." - James 4:8
And stay watchful, do not seek your own (evil) interests but the Lord's.
Do not pay attention to evil, but pray faithfully, fear God, wait for Him and He will surely help you.
"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." - Romans 12:21
"casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." - 1 Peter 5:7
God bless you all in Jesus' name!
