In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
While scientists continue to search for how we got here, with fantastic tales of a big bang, and life on other planets, the true answer has been here right before our eyes in the pages of God's Word. "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." That is it. Case closed. There are so many things we could be spending time on that we don't have answers to, but I find it silly that with something as simple as this, men and women devote their whole lives seeking for alternative stories to explain away the truth. In the beginning, God.
We were questioning things like the age of the earth, and a possible gap theory in another thread. That is something you can speculate about. People talk about whether or not the creation took place in 6 24 hour days or if each day could have represented a thousand year period. I believe they were 7 literal 24 hour days, but that is something we can question. But when it comes to the basic question of how we got here, that is answered right there in Genesis. Everything you see is the creation of the God of the Bible. The Bible tells us where we came from, our history, gives us some idea of where we are on God's calendar of events, and even tells us the future of mankind, both saved and unsaved.
My advise to everyone is just take the Bible for what it says, and accept it. It is telling you the truth, so you will not be able to prove it wrong, no matter how hard you try. When you deny the Bible, you are kicking against the pricks, as Saul was doing before he came face to face with the Lord. That is an exercise in futility, and rather painful to your feet.

Well, it may sound impressive... But I believe God created in 7 literal, 24 hours days.
Because when He gave what to write to Moses He was telling about it to humans, then I believe He meant literal 24 hours days, as we know it.
"Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?" - Jeremiah 32:27
"Is anything too hard for the Lord?..." - Genesis 18:14
"For with God nothing will be impossible." - Luke 1:37
Then people who think God is not powerful enough to create all that we see in just 7 days are mistaken.
"Jesus answered and said to them, You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God." - Matthew 22:29

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. If it took God seven literal 24 hour days to create the heavens and the Earth, and he created light on the first day, that's the sun and moon, stars, galaxies, and other planets, and God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
That's millions if not billions of stars, suns, galaxies, moons, and planets in one day. Why did it take God six more days to finish this little planet Earth?

Young's Literal Translation: Also, My hand hath founded earth, And My right hand stretched out the heavens, I am calling unto them, they stand together.
Josh 10:13: And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

How did god create the sun, moon and stars on the first day, when he said he created it on the fourth day? Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
Genesis 1:15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
Genesis 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
Genesis 1:17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
Genesis 1:18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

I know God made the earth, and made a firmament, and inside the firmament he placed the sun, moon & stars, but can you find me any verses in scripture where it says that God made the universe, galaxies and other planets? Just one scripture is all I need.

I am not convinced there is a massive universe like scientists claim, with planets orbiting distant suns. What if the sun is a unique creation, and it is not a star at all? I believe that if you sent a ship into space heading away from earth, you would eventually reach the end and you couldn't go any further.

Don't make the mistake of waiting for science to prove that something the Bible states to be true is true before you believe it. Science doesn't have to understand something or be able to explain something for it to be true. The ability of the mind of man that God gave man to reason with and to be able to study and understand His creation (and hopefully find Him through the evidence of what He has made) is subject to the power of God; and God is greater than all His created things---including the mind of man---and all of man's inventions.
I believe God's Word because I believe God (who cannot lie, and whose Spirit lives in me---just as the Bible declares that He will do for those who receive Jesus Christ as their Savior), not because science agrees with or has proven His Word to be true. (Science hasn't proven my conversion, but I'm still saved; and I would still be saved even if science "proved" that spiritual conversion is a form of psychological delusion. I have the evidence in myself.) Whether science does or doesn't agree with or support Biblical facts makes no difference to me. (Let God be true though every man be a liar.)
Christians can get themselves into a whole mess of trouble listening to scientists and "experts" of this kind or that instead of believing the Word of God and standing on its authority on all matters, and trying to reconcile the Bible with scientific opinion or findings, or with contemporary secular philosophies, when they contradict each other.
If demons can get a Christian to doubt the authority, truthfulness, wisdom and reliability of God's written Word by ANY means, they'll try it, to potentially confuse, deceive and topple the Christian. Satan deceived Eve by contradicting God's word, and the demons haven't given up trying to do this; they've always been fighting against the word of God, and will be to the end of the age. They may do it through religion, or through science, or through some other means, but it's all from the same source and with the same objective: To deceive and destroy. So be aware, and be wise.
Don't forget that most scientists are under the control of the evil one. They're humans first, scientists second: The things that the Bible declares about unsaved people and their thinking and their spiritual plight apply to scientists too.
The bottom line: If the Bible says A and science declares or "proves" B, believe the Bible. God is greater than His creation, and science doesn't have to prove ANYTHING God declares to be true for it to be true.
1 Timothy 6:20,21.

Genesis 1:18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
Gen 1:5, And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. Hi Hazard This question I asked you absolutely tormented me, because it was a question asked to me once, by my cousin who was my close brother in the Lord at that time. The more I looked at it, the more I couldn't answer. I was adamant that the scriptures were correct, that the light God made on day 1, was the light of the sun. How else could it be? Doesn't light only come from the sun? How else would you call it day, if not for the sun? The Lord really did put the sun there on day four, along with the moon and stars, at set them in the firmament. My cousin was right, there was a major discrepancy in our understanding. What my cousin tried to tell me that this light on day one was the light emanating of God. I couldn't accept it. It drove me crazy. The Lord gave me my answer a year later. My cousin was not correct either, but right about the sun not being made on day 1. The book of Enoch gave me my answer. It confirmed the sun, moon and stars were placed on day 4, just like Genesis does. All the other orders were corresponding also. I found it!.... expanded with more detail. Not directly answering this question, but in the explanation of something else. Most don't accept this book but it had my answer, revealed from God himself. It makes sense, ... a little hard to understand at first, and I had to keep going over and over, and then I understood to the best of my ability. Absolutely amazing. The Lord God is so wonderful, so full of wisdom. We know hardly anything, and just given glimpses of his creation from the Canon, but with no explanations how he created. Now I will lose my credibility for mentioning Enoch, but I will wear it, I am used to being ridiculed for this, and cannot express how much more the Lord wants to show his servants.

Enoch is great. The Thought Police on Worthy pounded me for mentioning it. Oh well. See the history of the early church fights about Enoch, Revelations, Jude, Peter. Quite illuminating. The fact we bow and scrape to the RCC in their choice of 'canon' is comical as there were at least three at various times, and the eastern church ignored Rome since it could not reach that far. Saul, Yeshua etc had all these scripture and said that ALL SCRIPTURE was beneficial etc., etc. "Behold the Lord's hand is not so short that it cannot save". We are His limiting factors so often...
I am a believer in the 66 books of the Biblical canon as being the complete Word of God, but I have read the book of Enoch. It has a lot of interesting information in it. There are questions over whether or not the entire book is genuine or if it has been added to. I think that is part of the reason why it didn't make it into the Bible. There is that and the fact that not every genuine book of antiquity, even if it was written by one of God's prophets, is the inerrant Word of God. There is a letter Paul wrote that isn't in the Bible too, and just because Paul wrote it doesn't mean it is scripture.

That's great justin. I am not going to push this book of Enoch, but if anyone asks, or wants to know, I will share. This book is not about scratching the surface, but goes very deep into the spiritual things, especially about creation. For the record, all Enoch books are not true. Counterfeits have been made and distributed to confuse. The book I received my answer from is called "The Secrets of Enoch".
