Matthew 7:21-23 King James Version 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Here we learn that obedience is the good fruit Jesus is looking for more than many wonderful works.
I used to wonder how a person could cast out demons without really knowing Jesus. But my conclusion is that the name of Jesus, in itself is powerful against demons.
These people who are getting rejected thought they knew the Lord but were decieved. That's what so scary about this passage. But it serves as a stern warning that those who are disobedient and work iniquity will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Entering heaven is contingent upon knowing Jesus and doing the will of the Father.
