VISION OF FAITH
The morning with its newness incites curiosity and provokes me to pursue understanding. I am finite with a limit to the bounds of capacity. A mere mortal; yet fashioned in the image of God. Last evening as the sunlit day gave way to the ensuing darkness revealing a quarter crescent moon and stars as luminaries glimmering from distances too far to image. The amazement of the existence of a designer and his creative ingenuity astounds me and my meditation is directed to his abilities. He; the great I AM. Majestic and Holy is He. I want to know the depths of his being and the intimacy of his holy love; I want dwell in him continually and learn of his desires and how they pertain to my existence in this particular time period. I want to sit in his presence in prayerful meditation and find the wisdom of life.
What does faith impose? I ponder the bounds of this faith infused and how its substance works within to generate motivation. We are told without faith it is impossible to please God; therefore faith is not optional but mandatory concerning a healthy relationship with God. I’ve observed over the years that there are many who speak of faith, many teach about facets of faith, and many preach of the rewards of faith; yet I don’t see a majority of them truly exercising faith. Let us speak soberly and precisely and then let us demonstrate it the same way. When we speak of the faith we are addressing the articles or doctrines which pertain to the Christian Faith as a whole. When we speak of practical faith; it pertains to our trust in God. When we speak of exercising miracle faith; it pertains to exercising faith to see God’s will accomplished in the face of the lack of human resources or means knowing we have been instructed by an unction of the Holy Spirit for that particular task.
Have you ever pondered the born again experience and the dynamics involved in obtaining it. I read a book that changed my perception of salvation for a while because I read a book by a famous Chinese evangelist who lived in the early twentieth century. It was one of many books he had written; this one was called the “latent power of man”.
It taught that from the time of the fall in the garden; the spirit laid latent in the soul of man. But the scriptures say we are quickened or made alive.
It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life. John 6:63
We walk by faith and not by sight! I know that faith believes Christ died for us and gave us the power to live a substantial holy life. He says “the words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life”. To have faith is to have total trust in the person of Jesus Christ who has the wonderful words of life. Peter said concerning faith that it is precious!
(1) Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ:
(2) Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 2 Peter 1:1-2 KJV
As one man said faith is the grace of grace! Why? Faith is the formulation and fortifying which comes from our knowledge of God. When faith is focused upon the object of our faith it produces more faith. Faith is an outward display of an inward dynamic. Faith is not just a confession or proclamation it is a manifestation. In the King James Version of the Bible it says “faith is the substance of things hoped for”. In the Greek language the word for substance is “hupostasis”, it can be defined as confidence, person, or assurance as well as substance. The verse in its entirety “Faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen” Hebrews 11:1
Faith believes and trusts in a God that the human eyes cannot see; this is the substance of our faith. Faith is the currency of our grace and without this medium of exchange our proclamation is enemy and lifeless rhetoric that produces nothing tangible or distinguishable. Why? God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him! One flaw I’ve seen in the body of Christ concerning faith is that many believe that we use faith to get what is in God’s hand instead of using faith to get what is in God’s heart. Spiritual wealth transcends the temporal wealth of the world; it transcends the carnal wisdom of the world; and it enriches the possessor with wisdom to help the brethren to walk by faith. Please note that there is nothing wrong with wealth as long as wealth is not the master of one’s life. We are supposed to forgo the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.
Faith brings accreditation concerning the fruits it produces when we receive the promises of God in faith we have a faith that produces the attributes of the Spirit and we walk in peace and holiness! We; by virtue of faith and obedience to the unction’s of the Spirit accomplish the perfect will of God. Faith has destiny which was designed in the providence of God. Brethren keep the faith and the faith will keep you! Selah!
