Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
How many of us have regrets about our past? There are things we have done that we know are not right, and we wish we could undo them. The devil will come to us and condemn us about wrongs we have done towards others and towards God. The bad news is that there is no fixing the past. Sometimes we can make restitution, but we can't undo the past. God knows that, and doesn't demand it. What God wants from us is to go forward now and follow him with our whole heart. He wants us to do the right things now.
The Apostle Paul was once known as Saul, a persecutor of the Christian church. He was a man who was consenting to the death of Stephen. There was nothing Paul the Apostle of Christ could do to undo his past transgressions. Here is he saying that he chooses to forget those things which are behind, and is reaching forward to what is in the future. This can be by not allowing the devil to condemn us for the past, and it can also mean that we don't long to return to what is behind us, like Lot's wife did when she became a pillar of salt. We need to put the past where it belongs, in our rear view mirror, and go forward living as soldiers for the Lord, working to bring as many people into his Kingdom as possible.

YES . The old man old life old pleasures in life , old evils in the past are JUST that in the past and we don't look back . Their is no condemnation to those who are in Christ , who walk not after the flesh but after the SPIRIT . To all, heed not the deceiver who tries and has us to focus on the events of the past . Either trying to make us feel condemned OR trying to have us do those old lustful things we are to be dead to IN and BY CHRIST . The past is gone , all evils we did , WE are fully forgiven for IN CHRIST . HIS BLOOD washed us clean . Live not in yesterday , it is gone and the payment of those Evils , CHRISTS PURE BLOOD is ENOUGH . if the blood of bulls and goats could offer the yearly forgivness of sins , THE BLOOD OF CHRIST , who was not a mere bull or animal sacrifice , IS MORE than sufficient FOR all sins we have done . We armour up TODAY in the LORD . And learn FROM HIM . Yesterday is gone , TODAY IS , and we have no idea if any of us will be here on the morrow . SO do in and by CHRIST , today , focusing on THE LORD , with thanksgiving , with praises . If any does suffer , let him pray , if any be merry let him sing pslams. And if any be sick , let the people pray for them . Raise up those hands in praise to the LORD. Yesterday is gone . Their is no man born of woman who has not done evil . JESUS paid the price so do not look back . His blood is sufficient . Let us instead , fight the fight of faith today . die daily . Walk after the Spirit and we wont fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Let each exhort one another . let some bring pslams , and songs , exhortations , reminders to stir one another up by remembrance. FEAST on the pure holy words of the LORD .

John Yes, we should "forget" all past things we did... Not to completely forget them but learn with them, so we do not commit the same mistake a second time, which will only lead to equivalent or worse results.
Remembrance of our past should not harm or worry us... If it does, then pray about it.
"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded." - James 4:8
"He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy." - Proverbs 28:13
"...For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins." - Hebrews 10:2
"...then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”" - Hebrews 10:17
"Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ..." - Romans 5:1
"to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." - Ephesians 3:19

Let me boast in The Lords Goodness, if i may. When we are saved, from that moment on, when has God even mentioned once our past shame to us? He never does. NEVER. as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Even into a sea of forgetfulness. When God saved me i had a hard time coming to terms with this. I had done things to people that sorry don't fix. I did things that I thought were against God so bad He would never forgive me. And yet, there He was, in my life. Many older Christians even told me... whats the deal with this, you have been forgiven right? I could not move forward still, until i settled in my heart i would never do these things again and just make the best of it. If you have regrets or things making you feel its hopeless the thing you need to do is settle it in your heart.

Sometimes, the things I've done in my past come to remembrance and bring regret or a bit of heartache. But I choose not to get bogged down in shame or guilt. It is a burden too heavy for me, which honestly, Christ lifted when I chose Him as my Savior. All I can do now is be thankful for His love and forgiveness... and walk forward in His power and grace!
