mikev, again, so much "It made me think about what Jesus said in Mathew 24:24 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Jesus gave us a conditional statement: if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. He never said one way or the other whether it was true or not. It was up to us Christians to answer it. By seeing what happen to this preacher I'd say it were true and many Christians today are being deceive by believing the lie. We are also told this in Romans 1:24-25 24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen." ===================================================================================== Multitudes, the whole world, governments, medical, schools, religions, wall street, retirement funds, social security precepts,
"are being deceive by believing the lie. " The kosmos is full of evil and wickedness that is not measured by man. We are immersed in this system that overwhelms the whole world, and fills the air we breathe and walk in . It is more than immense in size and effect and deception - and it is death dealing (pernicious, re Galatians all society is pernicious).
Definitions vary: elect, the elect, chosen, chosen ones, ekklesia, holy, saved, salvation, signs and wonders, "if it were possible" ('if they can they will') .....
So many multitudes have been deceived, are ANY of them formerly "ELECT" ? are ANY currently "ELECT" ? Each of many different groups on earth say this or say that and each one seemingly and really really really believes they are right. Most are wrong. Most Perish.
Pharmacy, the medical system, may be the largest entity of deception today everywhere. The most common idolatry like a cancer growing unlimited over the last century to the immense destructive power it is today. So much so, those 'stuck' in it, may not want to be free of it. They depend on it, and don't know anyone who can set them free from it, whether they looked for a while or not for freedom from it. The pharmacy system is designed to keep everyone a slave. Satan not only prowls around like a lion seeking whom he may DEVOUR, he has access to most souls lives through the drug industry. (medicine, not illegal drugs although those are his too)

We can only keep praying that the Lord will move to lift people out of the ditches they have fallen into, give light to their eyes, and grant them a turn-around. Jesus is the only one who can save. Luke 14:5 And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?
The whole world is deceived, by pharmakeia, by the beast system, by the whore of babylon , even with click-bait like democracy or 'justice'.
Do you believe the Scripture you quoted ?
Did you ever find out which of hasatan's entities, which anti-christs, claim to have authority over and authority to change Scripture ? Which anti-christs have laughed mockingly, self-pleased, that other religious groups "bow down" to those anti-christs by continuing to accept the anti-christs authority in those things they changed ?
Yes, I believe it....and whenever someone is pulled out of their ditch to enter the rest of God, that is a sabbath day to them. All I know brother is that Satan works through the flesh, and always has since the beginning...the heart is deceitfully wicked, who can know it. It's amazing to me how the Lord 'tolerates' antichrists in His church, this is all no surprise to Him.....but His ways are not our ways....it seems He uses such things to test and try hearts, for one thing. But the flesh problem is why we are all on a pilgrimmage of putting our flesh to death. Search me and know me o God and see if there be any wicked way in me. Being self-satisfied and resting on laurels doesn't result in growth....people in churches typically don't grow from my own experience as well as observation. I try to keep my eyes on God's kingdom, not the world. The Godless have nothing to rely on but themselves and other men and that is why they have so much fear, and do things often out of fear.......whereas we as believers are learning to have increasing faith in and reliance on God. But understanding I believe to have received is that we may use the things of this world as long as we are not enamored with them or putting our trust in them, including not putting our reliance and trust in man. Eg, if I have a plumbing problem at home I may call a plumber to deal with it, even though my overarching trust is in God to see to my needs, including that He will provide the right plumber with the appropriate expertise at a price I can afford, etc. And I'm thankful to the Lord for other utilities too, especially in our freezing cold winters here. But there have been times when I thought human skill was going to be needed and the problem just disappeared, so I believe it's possible to grow in faith in those areas too, and God is able to keep things from breaking down and wearing out for as long as the need is there on our trek through this wilderness, praise His name.

What is the source , who taught you, what you say about the rest of God ? Compare /test/ question all that you ever learned, with Scripture you read for yourself and see how different it is - what you were taught is different than what Scripture says, plainly. (in part, not all, but important it seems , or will be perhaps, for if you trusted someone contrary to God's Word, that may affect your whole life/faith ("A LITTLE LEAVEN" leavens the whole loaf) )
-------------------- did you ever find out ----- What entity changed God's Word to their own liking/ under auspices of being God's representative on earth, and deceived billions of people, destroying those who followed them ?

THIS is the day, that the Lord has made, let us be glad and rejoice in it. While it is still called toDAY....HIS day. The day of salvation. And age of grace. You are referring to the Catholic church and Papacy I believe....what Paul warned against.....son of perdition sitting in the temple of God shewing himself that he is God. The counterfeit church that rides the beast (and all her 'daughters').

Did you realize , if you did not trace it, that some of what you post came from the rcc many centuries ago, and to them from babylon or from idolators daily opposed to God, never serving Christ ?

Salvation is God's rest...resting from our own works of the flesh, which the weekly Sabbaths were a shadow of. That is scripture, not from the RCC. Rom 14:5-6 One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks.

More Side-stepping again. Every indication of rcc teaching and influence directly opposed to God and His Word.

More Side-stepping again. Every indication of rcc teaching and influence directly opposed to God and His Word. ?? I have nothing to do with the RCC (or even her 'daughters' for many years). What am I side-stepping, or perhaps I'm not understanding your question...? You esteem the Sabbath day and I consider every day alike, that is all, no? We have a little area of disagreement there (unless I'm misunderstanding). The Sabbath is a shadow/allegory of God's rest...do you disagree with that? Why were people "cut off" from the assembly of God if they didn't keep Sabbath (rest)...because it meant they weren't saved (allegorically). Remember the Law was added because of transgression....which transgression was the Sabbath addressing really....the sin and transgression of greed....of people working and conducting business non-stop due to greed, so God put the brakes on slavery to greed through that Law....He contained it. When I was saved I considered every day alike from the beginning, and was even so suspicious of anything that seemed "religious", it took a little while before I would even get baptized, so I am not sure where you are seeing RCC influence with me. And I'm still suspicious of anything that smacks of religion, truth be told.

And I'm still suspicious of anything that smacks of religion, truth be told. I tell you the truth, even in just this one quoted post, it seems the influence you have learned from , whatever and wherever and whenever it was or is, was partly , hopefully not largely, influenced by and/or from the rcc, (or more modern falacy), and again hopefully not to your knowledge at the time or even today, yet.
I don't know your history at all, I don't even remember all you have posted to me today - one post at a time or more.
I don't know your sources for the last year, or longer, even for this quoted post now (it may take a long time to undo, to give up what is wrong, and that only if you are willing and seeking truth and seeking God's Kingdom as Written, as God Reveals Himself, as Jesus Says Himself, today and forever) .
btw, God Hates Religion, but He Loves People. Religion has messed up billions of lives, destroyed them and their souls are destined for destruction. Do not fear man, who can destroy the body, but cannot touch the soul after that. Rather, fear God, who can destroy both the body and the soul.

From the OP, The Scripture referred to:
So I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities you did not build; and you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.’
14 “Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
16 Then the people answered, “Far be it from us to forsake the Lord to serve other gods! 17 It was the Lord our God himself who brought us and our parents up out of Egypt, from that land of slavery, and performed those great signs before our eyes. He protected us on our entire journey and among all the nations through which we traveled. 18 And the Lord drove out before us all the nations, including the Amorites, who lived in the land. We too will serve the Lord, because he is our God.”
19 Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to serve the Lord. He is a holy God; he is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins. 20 If you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, he will turn and bring disaster on you and make an end of you, after he has been good to you.”
21 But the people said to Joshua, “No! We will serve the Lord.”
22 Then Joshua said, “You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen to serve the Lord.”
“Yes, we are witnesses,” they replied.
23 “Now then,” said Joshua, “throw away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”
