Being able to discern what you are hearing and believing is very important. Do not hear the enemy.
"He who is of God hears God's words..." - John 8:47
Hearing and believing something that is not true can lead you to unnecessary battles, obstacles and problems.
A good example is when you experience a embarrassing, difficult, or unexpected situation.
The enemy will take advantage of such events and will try to attack you...
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks
about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." - 1 Peter 5:8
Spiritual enemies will start talking to you and giving you ideas of how you should react, think, or say.
Those things are never good when they come from the enemy, he will lie, he will entice you to sin, make you feel bad or uncomfortable, and much more.
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.
I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." - John 10:10
That is why we must be able not only to discern when the enemy is talking, but also to be able to expose him and overcome him by truth.
But it is not only saying some truth, you have to believe in what you are saying or commanding.
If you do not react with the required confidence and faith, the enemy will still be able to affect you negatively.
When you know the enemy is there and is performing an attack to you... React immediately with the truth that God will certainly give you at that time.
"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God..." - Ephesians 6:17
You do not have to say it loudly for it to have an effect in you... You just have to counter attack with some truth and be confident in it.
And you have to know the enemy is there attacking you... The enemy cannot withstand being exposed and rebuked by faith in the mighty name of Jesus.
He will leave you immediately as his plans were frustrated and his efforts were vain and his works destroyed by the truth.
"For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth." - 2 Corinthians 13:8
Popular attacks of the enemy are:
He will try to give you an incorrect image of God. Saying that He does not love you, and things like that.
He will try to make you do things you know God will not be pleased with.
He will try to make you forsake God and question His amazing love for you.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." - John 3:16
"...made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men." - Philippians 2:7
"to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." - Ephesians 3:19
As you can see, the enemy lies a lot... Spiritual enemies will use lies to try to deceive you and lead you to hell and to get you out of the presence and will of God.
That is one of the reasons of why it is so important to know and to practice the truth in our daily lives.
If we walk in truth, we have the protection of God and the enemy cannot touch us unless it is granted by God Himself as God is greater.
"You are of God, little children, and have overcome them,
because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." - 1 John 4:4
Then, start asking God for greater discernment, wisdom, love, and the knowledge of His Words, which are truth.
"above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one." - Ephesians 6:16
And whether is God or the enemy speaking to you... You will soon be able to discern more accurately.
"Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God." - Mark 10:18
"A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit." - Matthew 7:18
"...God is light and in Him is no darkness at all." - 1 John 1:5
And if you think is God... Then ask for confirmation from Him if you believe it is required, and He will let you know that is indeed from Him.
"...By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established." - 2 Corinthians 13:1
"For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints." - 1 Corinthians 14:33
God bless you all in Jesus' name!
