Pro 8:34
Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. The word watching here conveys the sense of being awake, of being alert and watching and as we can see in this verse it is also related to hearing from and waiting on the Lord. www.blueletterbible.org/lexicon/h8245/kjv/wlc/0-1/2Ch 23:6
But let none come into the house of the LORD, save the priests, and they that minister of the Levites; they shall go in, for they are holy: but all the people shall keep the watch of the LORD.
Mar 14:37-38And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour? Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.Luk 12:37Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.Luk 21:36Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.Eph 6:18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;1Pe 4:7But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.Col 4:2Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;1Pe 5:8Be sober, be vigilant (same Greek word for “watch”); because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour1Th 5:4-6But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
There are more scriptures and hope others will do a word search of one’s own and check out the definitions as well as biblical useage of the word....but the gist of it is that the word for watch in scripture has to do with three things basically from what I have found.....one is being spiritually awake, another is prayer and waiting on the Lord in prayer, and thirdly being sober and vigilant. For example, the parable of the virgins has them all falling asleep, as in not being watchful, as time dragged on waiting for the bridegroom. From my studies the message being conveyed by this word “watch” is that we are to stay awake and watching/waiting at the doorpost, keeping our eyes on the Lord, waiting for Him, waiting to hear what He would speak to us, or see what He would show or how He would lead us. Sometimes we may not hear much from the Lord for long seasons when He seems to be gone and far away, and in those times it is harder to stay "awake" and keep waiting for Him in prayer.

Digging in a little deeper past the specific instruction to find a principle, thanks be to God (I should have gone back and highlighted this part to make it easier to see):
Mar 14:37-38
And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?
Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
Not only His 'second coming', but we can miss His coming to us any time we are not "awake" watching for Him. Praise the Lord, that is a good one to keep upon our hearts I believe. And thank you Jesus.....remember the Song of Solomon....the Shulamite woman was in bed (not wakeful and watching) and that caused her to miss her Beloved knocking at the door.
"Lest ye enter into temptation"...otherwise God will bring trials to either keep us on our toes and awake, or to wake us up again when needed. The flesh can be such a tremendous drag on us spiritually....I'm sure we'll all be glad to be rid of it one day. I heard someone say that is the cross we carry, and I believe it is true (perhaps circumstances of life as well.)

The second coming has nothing to do with when Christ first indwells us , OR why was even paul waiting for it . Let us always remember that . THEY are creating a kingdom NOW mentalitity and will put our hopes in this world and its unity and its peace and safety . I WONT TOUCH their lie , not with a one thousand furlong pole . MY HOPE is in THE COMING OF JESUS let none of us love husband , child , wife or any more than JESUS . Be encouraged sister .

I dont' know if you understood me or not brother....not sure I understand your response..? There was a first coming and there will be a second coming of Christ. But also in between we experience many "comings" of the Lord when He comes to us by His Spirit, in the sense of speaking, leading, unctioning, etc. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to us. We can miss Him (His leading, unction, voice, etc) at different times in our lives in that sense too, at times when we aren't awake and watching and looking for Him. That's all I was pointing out as an aside. Seemed to see by grace kind of a little principle there that applies at all times, as well as at the second coming. It's nothing to do with the "kingdom now" stuff you are talking about....I'm not looking for an earthly kingdom, though His kingdom is here now, as Jesus and the disciples preached. But it is not of this world or the flesh...it is within the believer and in the midst of His body the church. (And Jesus also said, "if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God then the kingdom has come to you".) His kingdom is here now by FAITH. Only by faith, not by sight. The "Kingdom Now" folks and "Pre-Millennial" people are looking for His kingdom to come by sight.
