I am torn between two ways of thinking.
1. Christianity should be less political. We belong to the eternal Kingdom and the world and its systems are passing away. We need to stop over emphasizing America, the President, and political parties and put the emphasis on Christ.
2. We should be even more political. God always had a hand in politics in the Bible. We should have influence over politics so that Godly values can help the country go in a better direction. We should be voting and voting for the right people.
Help would be appreciated. Can you give your thoughts?

All we can do is pray for them now . This world is under the spell of the dragon and of the beast . Stay centered on CHRIST and on the gospel . In the end the only thing that mattered was DID ONE TRULY KNOW CHRIST . Pray for them , but trust not in any of them .

It's good question, sister. I think we should just vote for the best candidates according to conscience armed with the best information we have available. Unless our choices on the ballot get to be so bad as to be only a matter of choosing between one devil or another, in which case I think we can only pray. BUT try not to get stirred up in the flesh....hard to do when things are so disturbing and grievous and injustice seems to be prevailing more often than not these days....we're in a time in the west where Christian values are clashing head-on with unGodly values and goals. I'm having to really watch my heart and mouth lately when certain things rub me the wrong way, it can be so galling. Ultimately we know it comes down to the Lord anyway, whether He is blessing or judging the nation, or something in between. Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin brings reproach. I'm seeing this all like a back and forth shaking going on, like a wobbling back and forth which is going to end in a splitting apart, unless the Lord intervenes and things change, because a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand.
Just some overall thoughts, looking at the bible here. God knows where His people are at any time and His people may be in all different walks of life...some are public servants, in politics, some are in the military, some are policemen, some even work for the IRS I assume. Joseph arose to become second in charge of Egypt, Daniel rose to political prominence in Babylon. They both acquitted themselves in their roles in a manner that honoured God. In the new testament Jesus told the tax collector to be honest in his dealings, and he told the centurion soldier not to abuse his power. But he didn't tell them at that point to quit their jobs and go be missionaries somewhere....His will and calling for them at that point in time apparently was to stay where they were. Point being it doesnt' seem to be a sin biblically in itself to be involved in political or military spheres etc, as an individual. Just that wherever one is in life as a believer we need to acquit ourselves honourably and with integrity, doing whatsoever we do as unto the Lord. There may come a point where He may ask or it just may become needful for someone to forsake their position or career, but that is on an individual level between that soul and God, their individual circumstances, faith and growth, His leading and will for them, etc.

If a Christian can tell the truth, without fear of offending (talking the truth of abortion and homosexual for example), I think they can be in the politics and fight for real truth. But if we put the politics over the Word of God, it's difficult.
For example - Biden is a catholic but pro-choice < he is wrong on so many points. We have to pray for our leaders, even if they are pagans. That is my thinking.

Well what I will say is this, let us guard our hearts and be lead by the Holy Spirit, and it is not about being more or less political, but rather to be lead by the Spirit, and yes were we can bring about a genuine change, let us do our best in doing so. Let us pray for the leaders of government, let us warn of evil agendas, and if one is called to politics, then so be it. Voting in and of itself is not wrong, but seek God's face, stand for what God stands for. God is good.

I like Giller's answer. I think my conclusion is that it depends on the leading of the Holy Spirit.

It is about balance. Our faith in in Jesus, not political figures, but at the same time, we are salt and light in this world. Win or lose, I am still voting, but I am not trusting in politicians, including Trump, to be a savior. I will stand with those who are pro-life and pro-traditional family, and with those who are not God haters. At the same time, I know things will never be fully made right till Jesus returns and sets up His Kingdom.
