NEW WINE NEW MAN
The worthlessness of a false testimony is proven by the experience of the life that counterfeits salvation.
(36) And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.
(37) And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.
(38) But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.
(39) No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better. Luke 5:36-39 KJV
Those who have indulged themselves with the old institutions of religiosity are not readily acceptable of the new institution of salvation in Christ. Just like the old wine that is aged with strength and favor; but mild and mellow is more preferable to the old man who puts his stock in the old institution of Jewish Law rather than the new institution of faith and obedience to Christ. Therefore the old man that comes to Christ must experience sanctification of the Holy Spirit in order to be filled with the new wine of Spirit and Truth!
Can we honestly speak our salvation experience with power that is infused with the anointing of God? One who is knows something in the world and has much experience is able to address the topic with authority! Why? Because they’ve experienced that particular subject or vocation for many years and have the courage of doubtless explanation to address it because their expertise!
I submit to you that God doesn’t put his Spirit into an old bottle that is laced with the leaven or yeast of sin; he turns it into a new creature without the yeast of sin first then He pours in the new wine (Holy Spirit) that enables it to stay sanctified. He is called the Seal of Salvation; the earnest of our inheritance. We call this the doctrine of Sanctification. One must by all means be born again or born from above to inherit the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven. Yet we are confronted with temptations from remembrance and the tempter (Satan)” the adversary “ comes to steal, kill, and destroy what we have in Christ which is a new mind. God may test us but He doesn’t tempt us.
(13) Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
(14) But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
(15) Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. James 1:13-15 KJV
How is lust conceived? By allowing it to have space in your mind! Once it gets a seed then it gets rooted and permeates in your mind. Unfortunately the mind has a way compartmentalizing and storing those thoughts and then at some point it manifests in the actual sin. But if we get ahead of this design we can cast it out of our minds and restock that space with scripture.
(16) Do not err, my beloved brethren.
(17) Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
(18) Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. James 1:16-18 KJV
We must remember we are born again through accepting the word of truth to receive this perfect gift and have become the firstfruits of his creatures!
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. (James 1:22 KJV)
I am a spirit, I have a soul, and I have a body! Therefore those spiritual expressions that are lived day by day add to my strength, courage, and vitality as a new man or new creature in Christ. I am no longer forged or formed by the world; but by the living word of God.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2 KJV)
Jesus told the disciples to strive to enter in at the straight gate which leads to the narrow path less traveled! In this life we will always face trials, tribulations, and temptations; but be of good cheer Jesus has already defeated them and thus making us overcomers in and through him. Selah
