THE GOODNESS OF OUR GOD & THE DARKNESS OF OUR AGE
Many want the Promises, but don’t want to practice the principles,
Many want the Provisions, but will not meet the conditions,
Many want to Neglect God, but want to Navigate God.
Many are not willing to do the will of God, but always want God to do their will. The worse thing one can be is dead and not know it. If we want to have the goodness of God’s promises, we must yield ourselves through learning the art of pressing into his presence. Many times the will of God prepares us for an altar of sacrifice, and prayer is the place of pressing. Jesus had a habit of going to Gethsemane for this purpose. This was his place to press into the presence of the Almighty.
Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. Luke 22:42
Gethsemane means oil press, and what a perfect place the “ Mount of Olives” was, a garden placed among a grove of olive trees which were harvested and pressed out for the oil which is a staple of Jewish life and represents the Messiah or in other words the “ Anointed “ of the Lord. When we press into his presence we are anointed, which literally means that oil is smeared and rubbed into the skin. Therefore praying brings us into the Holy of Holies where the Oil of the Spirit is poured on, smeared and rubbed into our being. Wow! We receive supernatural power to perform the will of God. We must purpose to make prayer a part of the beginning of our day.
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. Psalms 5:3
The bible does teach us that we have not because we ask not, but the point was that it is because when we do ask it is to lavish ourselves. The purpose of prayer is more than just asking for things, it is petitioning God for the revelation of his perfect will for our lives and committing ourselves to that no matter what blessing or bleeding it might incur upon us. Job settled it in his heart that even if God slay him he was committed to keeping his way of life in serving the Lord, for the he could trust the Lord no matter what happens.
(15) Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
(16) He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.
(17) Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears.
(18) Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified. Job 13:15-18
The goodness of God helps us to know that everything works together for our good, not everything is good, but it works in accordance with the will of God because we are called according to his purposes, not ours. We acquire the promises of God when we practice the principles of God. Rules are designed to help us not hurt us, the practice of these principles conform us to the image of Christ through the renewing of our minds. We change our interview of life when we have the proper overview through seeing life through the lenses of God’s word. If we squander our lives through living it in the spontaneity of the moment, we cannot expect to prosper in the promises of God. Inspiration by the Holy Spirit and impulse by the mind of man are two different dynamics which have different results. Inspiration moves us higher and closer to God and results in spiritual prosperity which leads to receiving a promise of God to us, on the other hand impulse takes us away from God and results in spiritual poverty and causes us to miss a blessing.
(17) This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
(18) Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Ephesians 4:17-18
God has given us a direct line to his ear through prayer, we have the ability to send and receive communication. We do not have to be blind in our understanding. We have God’s Word, God’s Spirit, and God’s Ear & Voice to enlighten us in every area of our lives. Because we live in a dark world does not mean it should overwhelm or overtake us.
(15) See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
(16) redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
(17) Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
(18) And do not be drunk with wine, in which is excess, but be filled with the Spirit,
(19) speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:15-19
Brethren keep the faith today by pressing into his presence, willing to become living sacrifices acceptable unto the Lord. He is our place of refuge, renewal, and restoration. When we press into his presence; his presence presses into us. We are then enriched, emboldened, and enlightened to go forward in the power of the Holy Ghost and Fire! Brethren I cannot express it enough keep the faith and the faith will keep you. Selah!
Shalom, Agape, & Amen!
