Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
This is one of my favorite passages of scripture. There are so many people wise in their own conceits, yet the Bible says the foolishness of God is wiser than men. Is there a foolishness to God? Of course not. The point is to show that the seemingly wisest man is foolish compared to the wisdom God has. The weakness of God is stronger than men. Often times, people will think themselves invisible because they have lots of money or power. Nations will think themselves so powerful, no country can defeat them, yet the weakness of God is stronger than all the men put together. Praise The Lord! We serve a mighty God!
Then there is us. There are many wise men going around running ministries, teaching their version of the Bible. They look down their noses on those who can't speak well or don't look the part or don't have a Doctorate in theology, but the Bible says, God doesn't call many with large degrees who are full of pride. He doesn't call many that the world sees as mighty or noble. God chose the things that appear foolish, weak and base to the world to confound the wise. He has chosen those the world hates, and people that are lightly esteemed to confound the people the world looks up to. This is done that nobody should glory in God's presence. Everything we have we owe to him. All of our substance, all of our abilities, all of our wisdom, all of our righteousness, all of our separation and our redemption is all from the Lord, and we recognize that. It is not of our doing, but his.
