Obedience.
This word should not be scary for Christians.
If the word obedience is scary to you, then you need to fix something.
It is not something I can tell to you, the Lord tells you in your conscience exactly what you need to do and the next step you must take in your walk.
"But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?" - Luke 6:46
"You are My friends if you do whatever I command you." - John 15:14
"Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey,
you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death,
or of obedience leading to righteousness?" - Romans 6:16
If you are not feeling in peace and you know what you have to do next...
then you should not leave it for tomorrow, pray now and seek to do it.
The Lord will never ask you to do something that He will not give you conditions to do.
"With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." - Matthew 19:26
This is true especially when it comes to confessing and overcoming sinful habits.
This is something you cannot do at all without the grace of God empowering you to do.
And it is especially when it comes to overcoming sins that we do not have to listen to friends and family.
Because friends and family may go against what the Lord is asking you to do, by faith.
"...for the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love
the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul." - Deuteronomy 13:3
"...to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart,
whether you would keep His commandments or not." - Deuteronomy 8:2
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid,
nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." - Joshua 1:9
And to listen to friends and family on this can be discouraging...
they may tell you that you do not need to forsake your sins for the Lord, going against your own conscience.
"Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you
are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men." - Matthew 16:23
"He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me.
And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me." - Matthew 10:37
"Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge." - Acts 4:19
When something challenging appears for us to do, that really puts us to the test:
Do I love my sins more than Him?
Do I love my selfish pleasures and desires more than Him?
Do I love this world more than Him?
"What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed?
For the end of those things is death." - Romans 6:21
"For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the
Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live." - Romans 8:13
"And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires." - Galatians 5:24
Am I trusting God who can do the impossible, or in myself who can do nothing?!
"Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin...
...Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." - John 8:34+36
"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13
Now go and follow that faith God has put in your heart and serve Him, and honor Him, and love Him in Jesus' name.
"For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may
put to silence the ignorance of foolish men..." - 1 Peter 2:15
"For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your
body and in your spirit, which are God’s." - 1 Corinthians 6:20
God bless you in Jesus' name!
