Many people are more worried in overcoming the most obvious sins as sexual immorality, friendship with the world, and idolatry.
But those are the minimum things required for a Christian sincerely speaking.
If we really want to step one level further and please God even more then we will need to declare war to the smaller sins that often passes by unaware in our lives.
"Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all
filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." - 2 Corinthians 7:1
I was thinking about it today and I have noticed I have almost completely forgot about the small details.
Then I thought:
I obviously have much more work to do. Then why have I stopped?!
"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by
whom you were sealed for the day of redemption." - Ephesians 4:30
Not only that, I have to overcome more things such as improving kindness and patience.
And why not do it?!
"Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained,
let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind." - Philippians 3:16
Growing in love can be challenging as it requires to humble ourselves more in the sight of God.
And dealing with smaller sins, and I refer to the ugly small things that still surround us.
It can be a wrong word, even a fleshly feeling of unjustified anger or clamor, pride, laziness, and the like.
Well, you can get what I am talking about more precisely now.
As a starting point, I believe you must desire to achieve a higher level in order to please God.
Because without love it is impossible. Then, if you desire it and do not have it then it is time to ask...
“...Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” - Mark 9:24
"For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds,
and to him who knocks it will be opened." - Matthew 7:8
And He will surely start giving you opportunities to grow in what you desire.
"you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood,
to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." - 1 Peter 2:5
If you acknowledge you have failed, time to repent, ask more grace and try again...
"Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been
poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us." - Romans 5:5
"and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith." - Acts 15:9
And do not give up.
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13
And let this become a practice for you as a Christian. Imagine if you, my brother, another sister desired to do this?!
Our lives would be much easier, one helping another to grow in holiness in the fear of God.
"Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the Lord and depart from evil." - Proverbs 3:7
And the question that arise now is: Can we really be too holy!?
"And you shall be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy, and have
separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine." - Leviticus 20:26
May the Lord help you to grow in love each day.
"For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance;
but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him." - Matthew 13:12
And you, have any tips?! Feel free to comment. Blessings!
